Dancing with the Devil 3
|
A body entered the examining room, a white sheet draped over the frozen features. The wheels squeaked on the waxed floor as the lights overhead made a glimmering highlight on the glossy floors. Sterile tools sat on a table next to where the gurney now rested, not a speck of blood on them. Footsteps were heard outside in the hall creating a rhythm in the silence of the night, the heels clicking on the marble tiles. The door opened as the man who wheeled the deceased into the room exited and the examiner entered.
The examiner was a young woman in her mid-twenties, dressed in a white coat with her red hair pulled up into a high ponytail. Her face seemed pale in the unearthly glow of the florescent lights above. Eyes glinting, she reached for a scalpel to slice through the pale flesh below her and watched as it split open, no blood running from the veins underneath. Digging through the muscle and nerves below, she found a bullet lodged directly below the man's heart. Small and still shiny, it was coated with blood.
Next, she drained the heart of some of the blood in it. Pooling it into three small vials, she placed it in a rack to be tested for harmful chemicals and poisons for possible factors of death.
