A Taste of Childhood
|
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in the middle of the forest, her name was Shelly. And every night she took a stroll through the woods. Well this night, she decided to wander farther than she ever had before, and she came to a clearing. But she wasn't alone, there were two other people, they were talking of things she didn't understand. They spoke a different language. She hid just behind the tree line and watched them closely, something about they're presence here wasn't right. So she watched to see what they would do. They stood there talking for hours, every now and then they would kiss. She felt that this meant they were married, or something of the sort. Suddenly she felt very tired and fell asleep before she could do anything else. When she awoke, she was in some room that looked strange to her, and it was completely empty except for the bed that she was laying on, and the two people from the forest. They were standing by a window talking in hushed tones about something. As she sat up the woman hushed the man and walked over to her. "Hello, darling, what is your name?" she asked in a sweet tone. "Shelly," replied the girl very nervously. "What were you doing in the woods last night?" asked the woman. "I was taking my evening walk like I always do," Shelly said, still very nervous. "And what did you hear of out conversation?" asked the woman politely as she sat down on the bed. "I don't know, I couldn't understand you," Shelly said. "So you don't know anything we said?" asked the woman. "No, nothing," replied Shelly, still nervous.
"Very well then," said the woman, "Are you hungry?" "Yes, very," replied Shelly. "If you could have anything in the world to eat, what would it be?" the woman asked. Shelly thought that this question was odd, but still she thought about it. "Some bacon and eggs," Shelly replied after a few minutes of thinking. She had never had bacon and eggs before, as her family was very poor, but she had heard fisherman visiting from far away talk about it. "Bacon and eggs?" asked the woman. "That's all?" "Yes, I've never had it before but it sounds really good" Shelly said. "Aw, you poor thing, I'd be happy to make you bacon and eggs," said the woman as she h ugged Shelly. At this Shelly seemed to be comforted, and was no longer nervous of the woman. She spoke some words to the man in the strange language and he left the room. "So who are you?" asked Shelly when her and the woman were alone. "We are... people who look out for all of you in your town, we protect you from anyone that want to do harm," replied the woman. Suddenly fear began to writhe it's way up Shelly's spine, she had heard of these people, they live in the forest, and according to the stories, if you ever met them, you were never seen again. "Oh, it's ok dear, we won't hurt you, I promise, we protect you, remember?" the woman said as if reading Shelly's mind. "But, the stories," Shelly said her voice full of obvios fear. "Just stories" replied the woman, "I promise." "What is your name?" Shelly asked her. "Lilith," replied the woman. What a pretty name Shelly thought to herslef. Just then the man came back in with a plate that had bacon and eggs on it. "What took so long?" Lilith asked. "I was letting you two talk," replied the man, he had a strange accent. "Ok," said Lilith. The man handed the plate to Shelly. She began to eat, "Wow, this is amazing, it tastes so good," she thought. "You're welcome, it was nothing to cook, perhaps I can show you sometime," the man said as if reading her mind. "My name is Cain" he added. "Are you two married?" asked Shelly. They looked at eachother and kind of laughed. "In a way, we were never formally married, but we have been together for quite a long time," Lilith said. Just then there was a loud bang at the door. "Go see who it is!" yelled Lilith. Cain ran into out of the room. "what is wrong?" asked Shelly. "Our house isn't exactly somewhere that can be easily
found," replied Lilith. "Oh," said Shelly. Suddenly she woke up, she was in her bed back at home, it was all just a dream. Her door opened and Lilith walked in. "What's the matter honey, did you have a bad dream?" she asked Shelly. "No, just a dream about meeting you and father in a forest," Shelly replied. "Well that silly, you've known us your whole life," said Lilith. "I know, that's why I woke up, cause it was so weird," said Shelly, "I'm hungry," she added. "Ok, I'll go get you something to e---" Just then Cain came in the room with a little girl is his arms, "I figured you might be hungry when you woke up, so I caught this for you, she's still alive honey, just like you like them," he said. "Thank you daddy," Shelly said as the little girl in his arms awoke as he set her down. She began to scream, but it was all she could do, as Shelly was already on her and drinking her blood. THE END
