Galous
|
These days it seems she can’t be bothered to play. She just sits in her room and reads, or dreams. God has punished her, her friends all left her and her boyfriend found a prettier girl. To her, life was over, but she didn’t see what was coming. As she was walking from school one day she stopped. She had seen something in the shadows behind a bush as she walked by it. As she approached the bush she heard a small squeaking sound. She didn’t what it could be, so she knelt down on the grass and moved the bush to the side a little bit, and laying there on the ground was a baby dragon, it’s leg had been broken. She picked it up and carried it home, keeping it covered so that no one would be able to see her new friend. When she got to her room she broke apart her book shelf to use the wood to make a splint to put the dragon’s leg in. As she was doing this she asked the baby dragon her name, “Galous,” the little creature replied. The two of them had quite a night talking and playing. As the days went by Galous’s leg healed rather fast, and so did their bond grow just as fast. Galous and Holly became so close that Galous actually stayed small so that she wouldn’t grow too big and have to leave Holy. One night, Galous learn that she could fly, not being raised with dragons as she should be, she wasn’t too sure of what things she was really capable of. Intrigued by this, Galous decided that she would take Holly along for a flight, to show her things she’d never be able to see otherwise, the most beautiful things on the planet. They ventured on through the nigh, and saw it all. The Great Wall of China, the Great Pyramids, all of it. As they came to settle down on the hill of Stonehenge. Galous accidentally dropped Holly, luckily they were only a few feet above the ground. As Holly stood up she noticed that Galous was flying rather lazily and seemed to actually be having difficulties. She walked over to her, and scooped her out of the air and held her, “Galous, what’s wrong, you are acting different.” Galous only seemed to get worse at the knowledge of Holly noticing it. “I am not yours, I never was, I only came to help you through a bad time, and now that that time is over, and you are better, I won’t be hear for much longer.” Tears began to streak down Holly’s face as Galous said these words. “Don’t cry, please Holy. I will always be with you, you just won’t see me, but you will know.” Holly couldn’t stand it, just as everything else had left her, so too is her only true friend she’s ever had. She broke, the tears turned to blood and she screamed to the heavens, with such anger and sadness that even God would tremble on his throne. As she did, Galous slowly began to fade, “Please don’t do this,” Galous said as she disappeared. Holly stood there for a moment shaking violently from shock of she just went through. And then as if it were her turn to disappear the world faded. When she woke up she was in bed. She looked at the calendar, it had all been a dream, she hadn’t even left for school yet on the day she found Galous. She got dressed and ate breakfast and went to school, as she was walking the way home from school, something caught her attention behind a bush, she knelt down in the grass and pushed the bush aside, laying there on the ground was a white piece of paper. She stood up and was about to turn away when she noticed something, words were beginning to appear on the paper.
“Thank you for all that you did for me Holly. You are the truest friend a dragon can have, do not worry, I will never really leave you, I will always be here.”
