Her Next Great Idea [4]
|
I woke up at 3 a.m., my vision blurry. I was cuddled up against Connor's chest, his arm wrapped around me. If I hadn't known him for as long as I did, this would feel a bit weird, but it felt right. I closed my eyes and drifted into sleep once again.
When I woke up again, it was 6 a.m., time to get up. Connor was already in the bathroom, brushing his teeth. I turn onto my back and stare up at the ceiling.
"Are you gonna wake up?" I could hear through the open bathroom door, "Or do you want to be late for shool?"
I groan, "I am awake."
"True. But are you going to get up?"
I flip the blankets off of myself and get out of bed. I walked over to the bathroom and lean my head on Connor's shoulder. "I'm tired," I mumble to him, "I don't wanna go. I wanna sleep."
He laughed, wrapping his arm around me. "Don't you want to see your beloved Jim?" He whispered under his breath. I snapped to attention.
"I'm awake" I exclaim, running over to my duffel bag and taking out the clothes I had packed. I pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a white tank top layered over a purple one, purple converse, and a purple studded belt. I run to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and applied my make up. I straightened and teased my hair, snapping in a purple bow over my bangs.
Connor and I made my was down the stairs and grabbed a packed lunch--thank you Connor's mom--off the counter. We walked out the door and down the sidewalk just in time to see the bus driving down the road in our direction.
We stepped into the bus and sat down next to each other in one of the empty seats. The bus started to move foward when I could see someone running along side of it on the sidewalk. Someone with wavy brown hair and pink stilletoes. It was Jamie.
"Stop the bus!" I yell, standing up from my seat and running up the aisle and stopping next to the bus driver.
"Sit down little lady!" The bus driver yelled at me. He was old, and he smelled like ham.
"Stop the bus! Now!" By now, other people had seen Janie and were yelling along with me. The bus screeched to a halt and I fell to the ground, other people lurching foward and hitting their heads on the seat in front of them.
"That's why to need to stay seated little lady!" The old man yelled to me while I got to my feet.
The doors opened and Janie walked up the steps in her pink stilettoes. She put her hand on my shoulder and tilted her head down in exhaustion, trying to catch her breath. "Thank you," she said, panting, "So much."
We both walked back down the aisle and sat down, the bus making it's way towards the school.

Sorry.
