Chapter seven
Choosing sides

Reaper breathed in the cool air. He was at the top of the large facility. Three towers surrounded a triangle of the building. A large landing pad was spread out over the roof top. Reaper arched his back, listening to the joints cracking. He stopped mid-way and looked up. Five Chevan looked down at him from one of the towers.
They jumped down to land on the landing pad. “Hello wrath.” One said. He had light blued hair and brown eyes. “We are Prides’ Chevan. I am Kyojkios. Over there is saber.” He said, gesturing to another man. He had gray hair, and wore an open yellow jacket. His chest was a cries cross of scares. “, to my right is Yakoto.” He said pointing to a young woman. She had bright pink hair. Over her left eye was an eye patch. She smiled warmly at Reaper. “, The man with the deep blue hair and twin daggers is Hijo, and his brother is Nevan.” The two twins looked the same except Hijo had black hair, and Nevan had blond. They both had hazel eyes. “Can I help you or were you just introducing yourselves?” Reaper asked sarcastically. “No I sent them.” Lusts' voice came from behind.
Reaper turned to see the other sins. Envy, Greed, Lust, Gluttony watched Reaper. Each had a single Chevan. “You have less then I remember!” Reaper yelled up. “You think you’re the only one fighting us?” Called down Envy. “They do their job by making sure no one gets in are way. No you were just a pain. Now you’re a fucking sword in are hearts.” Lust called down. “I knew you would warm up to me!” Reaper yelled up. “Give up. You are outnumbered.” She stated. “Thanks for that helpful tip. You know with me not being able to count!” Reaper snarled. He straightened his spiritual arm out. A pentagram glowed above his hand. The familiar feel of his katana met his grasp. “Now who’s first?” Reaper asked cheerfully.
Prides’ Chevan started to spread out. Kyojkios had a large mourning star. The twins had duel daggers each. Yakoto had a katana. Saber had a jagged sword with a cruel look to it. “We leave you alone for five minutes and you get into a fight you can’t win.” Zaid said stepping forward.
Aron had his long sword laid across his shoulders. Lenneth had an arrow notched and ready to kill. “I was wondering when your Chevan would get here.” Lust yelled down. Reaper looked at Aron who remained calm. “I ask later. First we got to win.” He said with a smirk. The door leading up to the roof opened. Luna stepped out and looked around. “God damn it Reaper.” She said stifling a laugh. “Here. I made it for you.” Zaid said, thrusting the package at her. Luna unwrapped the package to show a katana. It was the same size as Reapers, inlaid on the hilt was a silver moon. “I thought fire elementals were the smiths.” Luna said, taking her place next to Reaper. “They are to hot headed.” Zaid replied.
Kyojkios lunged forward at Reaper. “You guys take care of these five, I got the sins.” Reaper said, jumping into the air. Zaid rushed forward, blocking Kyojkios. The two looked at each other through locked swords, and then broke off. Luna leapt forward towards Yakoto. Lenneth released an arrow at Hijo, who ducked out of its path. Saber and Aron walked towards each other. “It is nice to see you again my old friend. To bad you chose Pride.” Aron said. Saber nodded, and then lashed out.
Reaper landed in front of the sins. Their body guards reached for their weapons. “No, I’ll get him.” Envy said, waving the others off. “Let’s go somewhere that’s not crowded.” He said, jumping to one of the other towers. Reaper watched him, and then followed.
Envy watched the battle below. The elemental was holding his ground. The fox was back to back with Aron. The valkyre was on the last open tower. Firing at the approaching twins. They moved quickly, narrowly avoiding the arrows. Reaper landed next to him. “So you killed Pride?” He asked. Reaper nodded. “Shame, I was hoping he would crack and come for me. Never did like him, but at least he’s gone.” Envy said quietly. “Those Chevan that are with you are Sloths’. You plan to bring them back.” Reaper said, watching Aron land a blow on Saber. “Yes, here once this is over. We need to see who is the strongest out of Prides’ Chevan. Leo will be receiving Sloths’ soul.” He said, pointing to the man standing next to Lust. “Well, lets get this over with.” Envy said, walking to the other side of the round arena.
The two charged each other. Reaper slashed downward. Envy blocked the attack and pushed him back. Envy forced Reaper back under a barrage of attacks. Reaper blocked them just in time. Reaper lashed out with his sword. The blade caught Envy on the cheek. Red blood slid down his face. A cry of pain broke the night air. Reaper and Envy looked over to see Lenneth. The twins had their blades dug deep. Zaid appeared behind the two. Nevan quickly released his daggers and jumped, his brother wasn’t quick enough He grabbed his head in his strong grasp. The crackle of electricity filled the air. The twin fell under the attack. Reaper leapt over to Zaid.
Zaid laid his wife down gently. She smiled at him. The two held each others gaze for a long time. The fighting below had stopped and the two sides went to their leaders. Zaid shoulders shook with silent agony as his wife passed away. “I’m sorry.” Reaper said, clasping Zaids’ shoulder. He looked up at Reaper. Zaid stood up, and then turned to face the sins. “You will pay for this!” He yelled. Tear drops made tiny globes as he shook with rage. “There is one way to do this. To become Reapers’ Chevan and to protect him, he is the only way.” Aron said. Zaid turned to face the two.
He looked at Reaper. “Will you make me your Chevan?” He asked. Reaper looked at him. His pentagram tattoo morphed into the chaos sign. He pressed two fingers on his chest. A white blaze followed his fingers as he pulled them away from his body. “Once you do this, there is no turning back. You will live until I die. You might die when I do. You will obey my command no matter what. You will give your life for me. You have no life but mine. These are the rules of the Chevan. You will be mine.” Reaper said quietly. Zaid looked at the ball of flame. “Do it.” He said. Reaper pressed the two fingers on Zaids’ chest. Energy, pain, welcome and more flowed into him. Every emotion one could feel he felt in less then a second.
Zaid became aware of Reaper. He could sense him, like he was connected, a beacon in the dark, a light to see through the fog. He could sense the other Chevan and the sins. He looked up at Reaper. “What do you command master.” He said. Reaper smiled. “Nothing, I will call on you when needed.” Reaper answered. Zaid nodded then went to stand by Aron. “Welcome to the club.” He whispered. “Their has been enough blood shed. I think we should call it a night!” Reaper yelled. “Who says I’m done with you!” Sloths voice answered.
Sloth and Pride moved their new bodies around. Sloth was in Leos’ old body. It was his now. Pride had taken Hijos’ body. The twin begged Lust to be taken, to be with his brother. “Looks like everybody is getting something new and improved.” Pride said to himself. “Lets' go.” Lust said. The sins disappeared. The Chevan looked at the others, and then left. “Aron take Zaid and train him. When I’m done here, you will explain everything.” Reaper said. “Oh, and I want to know who made you my Chevan, now.” He said looking at Aron. “Your mother Reaper, Victoria Velmont. You are her son.” Aron answered. Luna looked at Reaper in awe. Reaper paused, and then jumped down. Guards walked out with hurry. Master and André walked out. “What happened?” Asked the trainer, looking at Reaper. “Events that have made things worse then they should be.” Reaper answered, walking down the staircase.
Luna handed her sword to Aron. “See you later.” She said before jumping down. Aron and Zaid looked at each other. “Grab your wife, I’ll get the body.” He said, swinging the body over his shoulder. Zaid said nothing. “Do you think I made the right choice?” He asked. “I wondered that myself. Do not worry Reaper is a good man and will do nothing to harm anyone he knows. He and his brother will change everything, but we must protect them.” Aron answered. Zaid nodded, then picked up his wife gingerly. The two disappeared in the darkness of night.
Reaper stopped at the bottom of the staircase. His sword lifted into the air, then disappeared into a pentagram. “Reaper?” Came Lunas’ voice from above him. “Yes.” Reaper said, turning around. “What are you going to do. Now that you know who you are?” She asked. “I must do a couple things. One is to find my brother. Two is to get Godric. He will be helpful and I knew him. He was my old general. I learned from him, but those things are later. Now I must worry about your people.” Reaper said, walking out the door. Luna watched him go. She watched Reaper Velmont leave.
