Long Distance Love Part 3
|
It was Julia. She was standing there with a smile on her face, and she looked even more beautiful than the night before. She was about 5'5", she had brown eyes, the most unique light brown hair with even lighter natural brown streaks mixed in. I've seen girls pay hundreds of dollars to want the kind of hair she has but not even come close. There were freckles going across her nose and cheeks, just under her eyes. I stood up to talk to her, making sure to be out of Rosemary's sight.
"Hey, I didn't think you were going to come" I told her.
"It's only 11:45."
"Oh, well, I guess I've been kinda waiting since I got to work." She let out a laugh with that comment.
"My family's over there renting a hobie cat, and I didn't feel like going so I thought I would talk to you."
We talked for almost an hour and a half. Finally I decided it was time for her to go before I got yelled at.
"So you leave Friday huh?"
"Yeah, I don't want to go though. The weather's so gorgeous here."
"It is now, but it sucks during the summertime when it's triple digits. It's Tuesday, I don't work again until Friday.
She put on a sad face, and we said our goodbyes.

The next day I was sitting outside school at the bus stop with AJ.
More about my school and AJ. I go to an Internet Based High School. Basically, I screwed up so much during my first three years of school that my high school sent me here because it's my only chance at graduating. Basically I show up to a building that is right by the city bus depot, hence the "bus stop", go in one of two rooms with about 60 computers in it, and take online tests for credits toward graduating. I can come and go as I please, there aren't set times for you to arrive and leave, it's open from 8:30 to 5:00, and lunch is at 11:30. I usually showed up at 10:00 or 10:30, and left right after lunch. There's about 65 tests per class, plus a mid-term and final. There are about 50 other kids that go there, and we're all there for the same reason. The other kids are the only reason I still attend, they are some of the coolest people I've met. Everyone there is friends. With the exception of 10 or 20 that are actually trying. I used to try, but when I found out I was still too far behind to graduate this year, and they were going to hold me an extra year, I said "fuck it" and didn't bother. It was at IBHS that I ran into AJ.
AJ was a kid I met through Bud when I was 16 and he was 14. I was skipping school, Bud and I lived right by the high school I was attending, and since Bud already graduated I went to his house. Other people thought the same thing. Bud was pretty well known at our high school with everyone that smoked weed. So when people would skip, they would go to his house. AJ was no different. I was over there one day when him and about 5 other people showed up in a car ready to go out. Bud and I rolled with them, and before I knew it me and AJ are walking through A golf course to get everyone water from the restroom water fountains, and we come up with the crazy idea for AJ to shit in one of the cups. That's where we started. A couple weeks later AJ got arrested for aggrivated assault when he pistol whipped a kid at school, and got sent to jail for 18 months. We met up again at IBHS when I started there, and we've been hanging out ever since. Everyday we would go and meet up at school, until lunch talking to everybody. Everyone there loved me and AJ. We started so much shit there, and nobody didn't like us. We were legends. I've talked to people that go there now, a year and a half later, and people are still talking about the two of us. Never is one of us mentioned in the stories either. It's always, "Yea, once I heard AJ and Matt", or "Then Matt and AJ showed up" so on and so forth. After lunch we would log out and hop on a bus to the mall. That was our spot. Everyday you could find us at the mall. We would stay there until 6:00 or 7:00, and then after that lord knows what would happen. Everyday was a different story with him. That was my running buddy, my right hand man. Everyday we were together, and everyday some different crazier shit happened.
AJ and me are sitting at the bus stop, we just left school, and I had a spur of the minute decision;
"Hey AJ, I got an idea. It's crazy man, but I got the money, you down to go with me?"
"Nigga am I ever not?" AJ was cuban, and very, urban, so to speak. Ghetto as a motherfucker.
"What kind of idea main?" (thats not a typo, thats how he would say it)
"Well........"
