Trusting the Insane

Horror Created on 4-26-08 Views(129) Story Rating G

Sally liked to walk alone at night.  Something about the crisp, cool, night air thrilled her. It never mattered where she was going, or where she ended up, because it was always her thoughts on the way there.

She sat out again, like always. Her clock read: 1:12 am.  She could be back in 5 minutes or 2 hours, she really was a free spirit.  Her parents didn't care if she went out this late, as long as she didn't wake them up when she came home.

She counted the trees all lined up in a row as she walked. The same number as last time.  She looked at the similar houses whose's lawns were the tree's home.  All the same, all familiar.  She looked down at the sidewalk, every crack there, but there was a dark shadow directly in fornt of her.  Not the same.  Sally looked up.

In front of her was an old woman, apparantly walking extremely late as she was herself.  Sally let out her breathe.  She had been taught by society to fear men alone in the dark, but women she could trust.  She smiled and said hello to the rather odd looking, ancient woman.  "Hey," said the woman, "I'm sorry but I believe I'm lost, I've got really bad memory problems.  Can you show me to..." She looked at her own address written on her hand. "...1219 Frontier Street?"

"Sure, it's real close by." Volunteered Sally.

The old, ugly woman set off at a slow pace behind Sally, who was leading the way.

"What your name, Sweetie?" said the woman as they walked up the driveway to her house.

"Sally," she introduced herself as she helped the elderly lady to her front door.

"That's a lovely name.  Oh, goodness, where are those keys?  Oh, I found them," she unlocked the door. "Mine is Sam."

"Short for Samantha?"

"Nope, Samuel." Who Sally thought was the little old lady, grabbed her with amazing strength and pushed her into the house.  Sam yanked off his old lady costume and locked the door.
