I was shaken awake from Jason, looking into my eyes he smiled and said 

“Come on beautiful, the plans landed”.

Walking out we were greeted with Hawaii women who put strung flowers around our necks. I was still sleepy, but excited. I was ready to start my honey moon. I couldn’t wait. Yes the first night was wonderful, but this was Hawaii!

Getting to our hotel it was beautiful, it looked out onto the beautiful beach in front of us. The waves splashing, as surfers rode the waves. Women and Men lay on the beaches tanning. I grabbed Jason’s hand and ran with him bouncing on the bed. The room was fresh, it was a suite as well. Only 3 bedrooms this time, Our master bedroom looked out onto the beach and had a hot tub outside on the porch where we could sit and watch the ocean. If we wanted our privacy all we had to do was pull the grassy blinds and the porch turned into almost a room.

I was in love with this place. Beautiful, literally paradise. 

“So, what do you want to do” 

 I asked Jason in my sexy little voice. He laughed getting on top of me as we began kissing. As he went to take my shirt off I heard it and he did too. The ringing phone. 

“Ill ignore it” 

I knew he wanted to answer it. I couldn’t help feel excited when he said he wouldn’t answer though. I knew it was probably Michelle, he did too. It hurt me to see him like this. 

“No answer it. There will be plenty of time for this later”. 

I may have said this with a smile, but I was hitting myself inside as he kissed my forehead and quickly picked up the phone. Not even looking at the caller ID. 

“Hello”

His calm, casual, manly voice answered. 

I knew he expected it to be Michelle, but it wasn’t.

“Mhm”

His whole face dropped, I sat there in my white dress watching him. Something was wrong.

“Well how is she.   no none of that, No, No, Ill see what I can do. i think I can be there before tonight. Ill have to talk to Ashley. No, No, I was aware, keep her there. No, Ill tell her. Thanks. Ya, No, No Problem. Bye, Bye”

Now I really wished I hadn’t let him answer the phone. 

Forcing a smile I asked

“What’s wrong hun”? 

“Sigh” “That was Carries parents.” “Michelle’s great grandmother has died. Carries parents said that she left custody to me of Michelle.”

“Jason”!

“Look, its that or they put her in a state home! They don’t want her, they never have. SHIT! I don’t know how anyone could think of putting that sweet little girl in foster care! 

Look! This is my mistake, Im sorry, so so sorry I pulled you in, I just had no idea that I would one day end up with her full time. It seemed to be working fine. *Laughs* You know she died from getting hit by a car, not even natural death. Its horrible, but its like fate is taking me in, telling me I made this mess and its my turn to take responsibility. Look Im sorry Ashley, but I have to do this. There’s no discussion.

“Yes there is! Im your wife!”

“I know but Michelle was my daughter first!”

“I I cant believe yo”

Before finishing my sentence I turned away shocked at his words. 

“Look that came out wrong Ashley, please, please just try it, if it doesn’t work we can figure something else out. All I no is that I have a little girl out there that my parents don’t even know about alone! About to go to foster care if I cant get my ass to Michigan as fast as I can!”

Crying I nodded my head, he was so passionate. I wasn’t. I didn’t want to be a mother. No! Everything was so perfect! Now I was going to be the one stuck at home with his mistake! I shuddered at what I had thought, making it better I told myself its, I mean she’s not a mistake. She’s his little girl and you have to support him!

“Ok then lets go” “Lets go now” “Ill call the cab”.

Every bit of me wanted to walk out on him right there. But I didn’t instead I called the cab and we got on an airplane that night. Arriving in Michigan early that morning. As we waited at the airport for Carries brother to pick us up, Jason asleep on my shoulder I thought to myself what the hell have I gotten myself in to.
