Ashley didn’t no what to think. Should she be angry? “NO! That would be so wrong!” she thought to herself, while looking at the love in her husbands eyes. He obviously loved her very much. 

Next he said “I hope your not mad, please don’t be. I no that she would love you so much. I just never told you, because I didn’t want to scare you. I love you too much! She’s five years old, and absolutely gorgeous! She has brown eyes, but takes a lot after me. Only she has her moms nose and obviously her brown eyes.”

I thought and then replied with “then how did she text you if she’s five”! I could have slapped my self for being so bold and using such a harsh tone. “Sorry” I said looking down a little ashamed. “No don’t be sorry, (he spoke this with compassion that made my heart melt) Her great grandma wrote it, they talk it over and she gets to send me text messages”. 

“You see (he continued with his story) I don’t see her a lot and she lives with her great grandma. I go and visit her though, Ellen her “gg” as she calls her great grandma insisted I have place in her life”. “I don’t complain, I love her so much”! 

I couldn’t believe this new life I was hearing him tell me. It was almost unreal yet I knew it wasn’t a lie. Especially when the picture he pulled out showed a beautiful five year old girl, with light brown hair and adorable brown eyes smiling with flowers and a brown background. “She’s adorable” is all I could whisper to him. 

Smiling he replied “I know” she reminds me of you. My hear sank knowing that I was now almost like a step mom. I never wanted to meet her I thought in my head, I didn’t want to be the evil step mother that took her real moms place. Yet thats when Jason asked me “Would you like to meet her after the honey moon”? “Yes” I replied almost too excited. Hitting myself in the head in my mind. 

“Don’t worry about a thing, she will love you”! I thought to myself, “I really, really, hope so”.  

A few hours later we were on the plane sitting in our seats flying to Hawaii. I couldn’t help but be excited again, knowing that his heart still belonged only to me in a romantic way. This made my whole body flush with excitement. I was happy again. I just hoped everything would be ok, especially with his new surprise he had thrown on me. I couldn’t help but feel slightly jealous.

He had another girl in his life. “Your sick!” I told myself. “This is his daughter, and her mothers dead”! “How can you be so cruel”. I decided then to try my hardest to be the best step mom she had ever met. I owed it to her because of my bad thoughts. 

I enjoyed the rest of the flight in first class. The leather seats each rowed by twos down the isle. The flight attendants walking around in their tight navy blue skirt suits. The smell of coffee brewing while Jason held it in his cup holder with his left hand over it sleeping soundly. I had the window seat, I looked out and saw the little specs of cars, and buildings below. They looked like little monopoly game pieces all lined up in a row. I laid my head back listening to the humming engine, drifting off into a sweet slumber.
