The War Between
Significance of Adavar

Prologue

The devil supposedly had a son, Mammon. Well, Mammon had two sons. His first son was Adaues. He was a ruthless demon. He was a god of torture, rebellion, and jealousy. Mammon had a younger son named Adavar. Adavar was different from all the other demons that dwelled in hell’s domain. His heart could break. Adavar always knew he was different. He just didn’t know why.

Chapter 1

1426 A.D.

Again I was awoken by another disturbing dream. A dream I could not understand. It made my heart race and my palms sweat. My mind is cluttered with the nightmare. It haunts my day and night. I wonder where it’s coming from.

“I thought I heard you screaming again.”

“Why are you in my chamber, Adaues?”

“I thought you were in trouble.”

“You have a very cruel since of humor.”

“I’m a demon that’s what I do.” He said with a laugh.

I glared at him from my bed as he walked to the balcony. I despised my brother. I wish I could imprison that wretched soul. Torture him for all time.

“You know father worries about you, Adavar.” I got up from my bed and stomped over to him.

“What is your concern anyway!” I exclaimed and grabbed his throat with my claws. He clawed my ribs so I tightened my grip.

“My only concern is that you stay out of my way.”

“How am I blocking your path Adaues?” I took a blow to the stomach and I flew off the balcony into the courtyard. Adaues jumped down and walked towards me. I got up from the dirt and ran for him. I punched him in the face. He then grabbed my arm and squeezed it.

“Father wants to give the thrown to you! I will do anything to stop that!”

“Fine, I don’t want it anyway.” I pulled back from him.

“I don’t want to be lord of all that is unholy. You are a vile wretched creature!”

“Ha, have you looked at yourself lately? You want to be a follower of God. You and I both know you will never be worthy. You are a prince of the slums of the universe. Get used to it.” He walked off back into the castle. It started to rain. I walked away from the castle and went into the valley. It was a hidden place I had found long ago. It was the most decent place here. One green tree and a bed of flowers. I would sit under the tree for hours and just think about everything that has happened in my life. How it irked me so when I was a child to see the merchants selling souls as slaves. Adaues was always Satan’s favorite growing up. His lust for torture was endless. I would run to my father and he would comfort me. My father wasn’t all evil. Though he calls this place home I know there is something more to his story than I know. He is different. He said that I am different too. I always wondered of my mother. I asked him once where she was. He said she was in heaven. He would tell me all the time she was an angel. Adaues would sit in his tower hating how father smiled at my happiness. He always hated me. I don’t care at all. Adaues doesn’t really exist to me. He wants the throne and he can have it. I wouldn’t know how to run this world and I don’t want to. I just worry about what’s going to happen when Adaues takes over.
It stopped raining and I got up and walked back to the courtyard. I stepped in a puddle. I watched it ripple and then I saw my face. Wrinkled and without any emotion.
“I am a monster.” I said touching my face.
“Not to me.” It was Ikar my only friend. “Where have you been?” I said. “Around. I’ve been looking for you all morning.

“Why?” I asked. “I just wanted to say goodbye.

“Goodbye? What’s going on?”

“I’m going to heaven.” “How?”  “I prayed and I prayed and God knows that I am sorry for all that I have done.”

“I’m going to miss you friend.” “Me too Adavar.”

I shook his hand. I could hear commotion in the background. I turned my head and I saw Adaues and his minions coming towards me. Adaues pushed me down and grabbed Ikar. I ran for Adaues and his demons grabbed me. “What do you want with Ikar?” “We need one more soul to torture for today’s battle. “You can’t do that it goes against the laws!” I tried to break free. “Laws mean nothing to me.” “He’s a free soul. He can move around hell wherever he pleases. Let him go!” I broke free. I ran for Adaues. He lost his grip of Ikar and fell. “I’m not taking shit from you no more Adaues. This is over! You and your hatred.”

“Look around you Adavar. This is a haven for hatred.” He ran towards me. I ran towards him. We started going at it like never before. Full on. Too bad we can’t kill each other. I punched his face and I broke his jaw. He just popped it back in place. Over and over I clawed his face and he didn’t go down. He just healed. “You can’t hurt me Adavar. I am a god.” I breathed heavily. “You are nothing!” I ran towards him again and I grabbed his ribs and his neck. “Fucking die!” Adaues laughs continuously. “Oh, you kill me Adavar. Kill me beast!” he punched me so hard I flew into a wall and it collapse on top of me. I saw Adaues walk towards me. I could hardly breathe with the weight of the bricks on me. “Are you finished Adavar?” I stared at him and I tried to catch my breath. “Not even close.” I pulled myself out of the rubble and I stood in front of him. I could hardly see anything. Everything was spinning. My arms and my legs shook as I stood there waiting to regain my strength. Adaues circled me and he had the evil grin on his face. He laughed and then tripped me. I fell hard on my back and I laid there helpless. He stepped on my leg and twisted it. It seemed as if the pain was forever. My leg was broken and I could not put it back into place. I began to bleed and I couldn’t get up.

Adaues and his minions backed up away from me. “You mortal. You’re becoming one of them. Oh, revenge will be so sweet.” Adaues said and walked away. I laid there and I eventually passed out.

I was awoken by pain and that nightmare. I looked down and my leg was wrapped in a cloth. I sat up in my bed and looked at the floor. “What’s happening to me?” I asked myself.  I heard my door open. It was two guards. “What do you want?” I asked. They walked in and hit me hard. I blacked out.

I could hear screaming and souls begging for mercy. I opened my eyes and I was still dizzy from the punch. I was chained to the floor. I was in front of a chair made of human bone and flesh. I knew where I was. Suddenly the chains tightened. I saw a tall dark figure walk in front of me. A claw came towards my face and scratched me. “Hmm, so you do bleed.” It was my grandfather, Satan. He walked over to his chair and sat down. “You are in a lot of trouble Adavar. This mortalizing that is happening to you is something of God.” I looked up at him. “God is- my savior.” I whispered. “What did you say demon?” I stood up a little. “I said God is my savior!” I said it loud for all of hell to hear. I looked to the side of me. I could see Adaues on the side of me. His smile grew bigger as he saw my face in pain. Satan grabbed my throat. “You’re banished!” He said and threw me into a wall. “Get out of my world, mortal.” He said. I stood up and started walking. “Goodbye brother.” Said Adaues. My leg was healed. Only so I could hurry out of hell. No creature wants me hear. It’s a dream come true to me.

I left Satan’s castle and I just barely walked passed what used to be my home. I saw Ikar waiting for me. He waved and then he vanished. He was smiling. I think he’s going to heaven.  I looked up at the red sky and things were somewhat clear. It is clear that I do not belong here but there is something missing. Why do I feel like a mortal does? Why do I bruise and scar? Who is my mother?

I started to run and I ran faster than I ever have. I ran farther than I ever had here. I don’t even know where I am. I was half way through a forest. I think I was in the middle of hell.
