Some fantasies are driven by the imagination. Others are just made up by a person and left out in the open for young minds to explore. The story I’m about to tell you is both shocking and will be hard to swallow, but it will change some people’s point of view on the world. It all started out with a dream. It was more of a nightmare actually. It started in my best friend, Kim’s, house. Here is my story.
On the tenth of July 2008, I stayed over at my friend’s house. It was a beautiful day and staying inside waiting for Kim’s parents to get back was rather boring. We decided to explore outside. This was rather dangerous as my friend lived on a farm. What made it even more dangerous is that Kim wouldn’t tell me the destination we were going to explore. We got ready quickly. At the time I didn’t know what the hurry was. Kim’s parents wouldn’t be home until five ‘o clock and it was only three thirty. Even though I was confused about this I still got dressed into some jeans and a long-sleeve top very quickly. Kim was staring out the window and then glancing at the clock like she was obsessed with going out side. It was almost like she was a dog scratching fiercely at the door waiting to go for a walk. She kept on egging me to hurry up. I didn’t see what the hurry was but none the less I quickened my pace. Finally I was ready and eager to see where Kim was going to take me to explore. I kept on asking her where we were going but she wouldn’t say anything. She just ignored my voice and kept wading through the long, dry grass out side her house. I gave up in the end. I knew I wouldn’t find out until we got there. Kim was very high sprung. She kept on glancing around nervously.
“Kim. Either tell me where we are going or I’m heading back home,” I had said firmly, stopping like I was rooted to the ground. Kim suddenly stopped and shushed me. She crouched down. What was going on? She finally spoke.
“Nicolas is here! If he catches us we are good as gone!” Kim hissed at me. I knew what that meant. As quickly as I could I had shot downwards like a bullet out of a gun. I was crouched really low and I didn’t dare to even breathe. Nicholas was a man who lived next door. He looked after the crops and sheep. Though we were not in his territory, he knew Kim’s parents were away and would start asking questions if he spotted us. We had crept slowly through the grass and up to the fence of the next paddock. Slowly we both had parted the barbed wire with our fingers and rolled under. The dry grass prickled my neck, as we lay there. I shut my eyes and whisper,
“What do we do now?” There was a delay in Kim’s response. I repeat my question over and over again. I finally gave up and turned my head slightly to look at Kim. I shiver runs down my spine and I shiver. My worst fear, snakes. There, coiled up near Kim’s arm was a snake. Its scales were jet black and its red eyes were open wide staring at us. I gulp and glance at Kim. She is frozen in fear. If eye could turn back time to change what I did, I would. I would because that snake was the reason I am now stuck with the spirits. The reason Kim’s missing. The reason I am now abnormal.
But I can’t turn back time. So I’ll continue to tell exactly what happened. Here we go.
Well, its eyes were so cold and lifeless. So evil it looked like no soul occupied the snakes’ body. I knew I had to do something other wise Kim and I would be lying there for hours and my mum and dad would arrive home. It seemed like a good idea at the time, so slowly I got up and made my way around Kim until I was right up close to the snake. It took notice of this straight away and it perked it’s head up quickly and hissed. It’s tongue flickered gracefully. I couldn’t hold the fear inside of me any longer. I opened my mouth and screamed. I screamed the loudest I had ever heard anyone scream. Kim took her eyes off the snake and glared. I kept on screaming.
