My future?

The scenery is sketched in blues and reds, the beach stretches on for miles. An island in the south Atlantic inhabited only by two families one on either side, and wildlife. Sound like a dream? It was, my dream, but now it is me reality. This is the life I live with my husband of nine years and my two children. We have lived here for the past eight years. My children were born on this island. Our neighbors are far enough away so that we’re are not crowded but close enough for emergencies. My life has, as far as I am concerned gone perfectly, with only a few bumps.

My life officially started when I was eighteen. Two things caused this, one I graduated high school, and two my entire family was killed in a car accident. At first I did not know what I was going to do with my life, I was devastated. So with the money my parents had left to me I went to college. I had no major and only went for two years. While at college I met Nick. We were in a math course together and we became fast friends. He was there for me when I felt down and always cheered me up. After college we lost touch, for I moved to Florida to try and start my life.

It was here that I started my writing and art careers. My first two books were failures, both poorly written nonfiction stories. I began to write short story fiction. They sold and I became more encouraged, and I wrote even more. One day as I was talking on the telephone to a close friend about the future I began to doodle on a scrap piece of paper. It was then I noticed my artistic ability, after I was off the phone I drove to the nearest art supply store. I bought pencils, pastels, paints and ink, as well as the specific paper for each of these. I went home and first tried pencil; I had already proved I could sketch with one so I figured it was the best place to start. I drew a picture of a vase of roses, still life. I didn’t stop there I did five more before the night was through. I got up bright and early the next morning and started on pastels. I did a couple and moved on, by the end of the day I had a total of fifteen portraits done, I was more than pleased. The next day Julie came over, I anxiously showed them to her. Julie had been an art major in college, and had a great eye for talent. She suggested that I sell my work. It worked, soon after both my writing and art careers took off. I began to write novels and do portraits for people and I was making lots of money. Then unexpectedly on of my novels began to go to the best seller’s list. The local bookstore wanted me to go down and do an author talk and autograph session. I however, not expecting a big turn out, was shocked when I saw the literally thousands of people in and lined up outside of the store. The session took five hours. Just as I was getting ready to leave one last fan decided to pay me a visit.

It was Nick; it had been a year and a half since I had seen him. He looked absolutely wonderful and had been a complete success with his computer graphics career. We went out and spent the entire day filling each other in on our lives. It was a night I will never forget. We began dating and a year later we were engaged. We were married on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Both friends and family were present. We moved in together and discussed our future regularly.

One day, while looking at a real estate magazine, Nick discovered a piece of land that interested him and we both decided to check it out. It was a five-mile wide and ten-mile long island. Only half of the land was for sale the family that owned the island had no use for the other half and decided they would like some company as well.  We bought it for 1.5 million, which took up three-quarters of our savings. We then spent another three hundred thousand on building a house and a garden to surround it. Within two months we moved in, and I was pregnant.  We went through many ideas as to how we were going to deal with this. After a great deal of thought we decided to hire a doctor to move in for my nine-month term. With money running low w I decided to write and paint some more. After two short stories and twenty landscapes I started a novel. My doctor helped with the medical terms and I wrote about my pregnancy, day by day. It was like a journal; my thought, feelings and my pain went down, so that everyone would know what it was like. Time went by rather quickly and nine months later I was having twins. Nickolas and Raechel were born at 2:24 p.m. on July 18, 2006. Our life together has been great; I have devoted my life to my family. My recent stories have proven that to be true. The series I am working on now is for children. My own children are the inspiration for this series.  They are my motivation for all that I do.
