That’s when I see her, and suddenly the whole party seems to fade away.

My hand slowly lowers and I absentmindedly drop my cup onto the sand.

 “I’ll be right back.” I faintly hear myself saying as I start digging my way through the mass of bodies.

“Lev!” Andrew’s muffled voice calls.

“He’s a big boy; he’ll be alright.” Brian jokes back, and then I’m too far away to hear them anymore.

I stop as soon as I’m clear of all the people, and find myself staring at this girl only a few yards away.

She is sitting close enough to the sea to allow the warm soft waters lap up over her petite feet, the foam gently caressing her skin. Her eyes are fixed on the sun that is just setting behind the horizon and creating a sparkling array of colors on the sea from the reflecting sky.  It is pretty, no doubt, a scene I had dreamed the longest time of seeing, but I find my eyes lock on her instead.

She seems somewhat ethereal sitting there against the pale sand and shimmering ocean. The sun caresses her skin in a soft golden glow, her deep black hair long wavy catching the sun in an array of colors. Before I can notice anymore, though, she turns swiftly to face me, her green eyes dancing in laughter. As if in a trance, I study the soft contours of her face that seem to radiate in the delicate light from the sun.  Her cheeks are full and cutely slightly plump making her appear as young, if not younger than me, but her glistening eyes contain a spark of something more pronounced.

With a smile still on her face, she tilts her head to the side and frowns, as if to scold me for staring. I feel my cheeks go hot. She had turned her body to face me while I was lost in her striking features and was now sitting cross-legged with her hands on her ankles. I notice she is wearing a simple ice cream green tee shirt and jean shorts that show off her slender form. I watch her shoulders bounce as she let out another giggle, patting her hand on the sand beside her, motioning for me to sit next to her.

It takes me a moment to figure out what she wants, though, as my mind is affixed on the aura she emits. It is gentle and seems to caress my heart with warm winds of bliss. She’s too beautiful to be real I am sure.

“Come, sit with me.” Her voice sways, flowing like a melody across the space between us.

Her invitation pulls me closer and the next thing I know I’m on the ground next to her, her eyes gazing in to mine, dark eyelashes fluttering. I can’t help but catch my breath at how incredibly green they are, like a lime lightning storm, electric. I have never seen eyes even close to hers.

She blushes slightly, “I’m Nixie.” Then my gaze shifts to her mouth as she gives me a soft smile and I notice how perfect her lips are. It’s all I can do not to just lean in and kiss her.

Distracted, I forget to reply.

With another little giggle she asks, “What’s your name?”

“Oh, uh, Levy.” I smile sheepishly, mentally hitting myself. She probably thinks I’m retarded.

Tactically, in an attempt to hide my embarrassment, I ask, “Are you here for the party?”

She looks over my shoulder at the group of teens before replying. “No,” she smiles, “I’m here for you.”

I stare at her blankly for a second, a little freaked out by her answer before I realize she’s just joking. I laugh at my stupidity.

“And what’s so special about me?” I ask, playing along.

She takes a good long look at me and I feel myself going red again at the intensity of her stare.

“You’re,” She pauses, “Special.”

Her hand is on my face now, her thumb tracing the ridge of my cheek.

Then everything starts to swirl and I find that I am suddenly dizzy.

She brings her face up to my ear, cheek against cheek, and whispers in my ear “Breathe.” And I realize that I had been holding my breath.

She lets her hand slip off my face and onto my chest over my heart. Giggling again she shifts herself so she’s sitting on her knees, facing me. Her eyes sparkle.

“I like you.” She grins. “Want to go for a swim?”

Swim? Get in the water? Yes! But I can’t find my voice and end up nodding vigorously. I’m memorized by the way she looks, the way her hair midnight hair drifts casually into her face, the way her eyes glisten in the evening sunlight.

She stands up, holding out her hand kindly to help me up, looking down at me expectantly with those zealous green eyes. She expects me to take her hand, she expects me to touch her.

I quickly bring my hand up and slip in into hers. Her skin is so smooth and soft it’s like caressing velvet. She gently helps me to my feet leaving me right beside her and I take note on how short she is. At five feet eleven inches I guess I am at least ten inches taller than her.

She stands there so petite and fragile for a moment before tightening her grip on my hand and gently pulling me so that the water flows over my feet. I pull my eyes of her entrancing form and look down at my feet. I see the sand sneak between the crevasses of my toes, feeling its rough yet soft texture rub up against my feet. The cool clear waters feel good rushing over my bare feet.

It doesn’t cross my mind that I don’t have shoes on, though my bare feet are right in my face. It doesn’t matter where my shoes were or the fact that I’m wearing jeans and a tee shirt, not the kind of clothes you want to go swimming in. The party is a thought locked deep in the depths of my memory, buried with my friends.

All I can think about is the fact that I’m at the beach with the most beautiful girl in the world. I’m standing next to the ocean, which I’ve wanted to see for the longest time, but even that doesn’t compare to the gorgeous chick standing next to me. Perfect, everything is perfect. At least for the time being..
