“So what brings you to my heavenly home?” Thanos asked sweetly.
“I’m here to save my love, Kainen.” I responded strictly, “I was sent by Zoltan to obtain your permission to bring him back to life.”
“Ohhh,” He said, nodding his head in understanding, “So he has already passed.”
“Yes.” I replied simply, not knowing what else to say.
“Well, I would love to just say ‘go ahead’ and be done with it, but it not an easy task to retrieve someone’s soul if has already passed.” He sighed.
“Please,” I begged.
“It can only be retrieved by his true love.”
“I am his true love.” I said confidently. “What do I have to do? I’ll do anything.” I asked desperately.
“There is a hen.” He started.
“A hen?” I interrupted, confused.
“Yes, a magical hen that is the portal from the Soul world and here.” He explained. “You have to go to it and get it to lay your true love’s soul in the form of an egg.”
“An egg.” I repeated, still not understanding completely.
“But you have to pass the giant who is guarding the hen.” He added.
“How do I get past the giant?” I asked.
“I honestly do not know.” He admitted, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright.” I comforted, “So where is this giant anyway?”
“It is located down that way a bit.” He pointed straight away from him.
“Okay.” I said, determined. I would save Kainen; I had to.
I turned to look down that way, trying to gather all my strength, unsure of how much I would need to take down a giant. I took a step forward before Thanos stopped me as he spoke again.
“Wait.” He said, and I turned around. “You might need this.” He handed me a shield. It was square and plain, but rather large.
“It’s a bit handy for swordfights.” He stated, motioning to the side of my dress.
I looked down and discovered the sword again. How could I keep forgetting it was there? Probably because it was so light.
Then I realized what he was saying: I might have to use the sword. I could feel my heartbeat pick up in my chest; I had no idea how to use a sword.
“Thank you.” I reached out to take the shield, taking a big breath of air to calm my nerves. The shield was surprisingly light despite its size.
“You can do it.” He said encouraging, “You have a strong soul.” He smiled.
“Thank you” I repeated sincerely, finding that his compliment gave me more confidence. I turned around again, and started down the way, through the fallen and decayed pillars with my sword at my side and a big shield in my arms.
Pretty soon the pillars had disappeared and I spotted a tower in the distance. I slowed my pace, wondering if that was where the hen was. Just then a big creature stepped around from the back of the tower and into view.
It was enormously tall, large and bright blue. It had one bright white eye in the center of its face and a single slit for a mouth. It was wearing a white toga and had feet the size of its gigantic head. It paced back and forth around the tower.
My heart started throbbing in my chest in fear. How was I going to defeat that giant?
I took a step forward cautiously, knowing that I would have to do this sooner or later. Preferably sooner so I could get my Kainen back sooner.
          I took a few more steps forward, my heart beating faster with every step.
          Suddenly, when I was several yards away, the giant turned and started running toward me, noticing me for the first time. He was yelling like a warrior going into battle, and had a fierce look on his face.
          A scream of terror made its way through my chest and out my mouth. How did I even think I could kill this beast?
          I quickly turned around and started running with all my might the way I had come.
          I didn’t get very far though when the giant overtook me and stopped right in front of me snarling, bent over so his face was only inches above mine. Momentum carried me closer to him, stopping just before I ran into him with my shield held out in front of my face.
          I was so close I could feel the warmth from his breath. Switching direction, I spun around and started running back toward the tower.
          The giant quickly overtook me again, bringing me to a halt by getting in front of me again. It took his large hand and picked me up by the back of my shirt to keep me from running again, making me drop my shield.
          I kicked, pounded, and screamed as he brought me up to his face so I could stare straight into his huge giant eye.
          “What do you want?” He demanded in an extremely deep voice.
          “I need my true love’s soul.” I whimpered, trying desperately to muster up some much need courage and might. 
          “You’ll have to get through me first.” He threatened, growling.
