Groggily, I woke up with my head resting uncomfortably on my keyboard. I felt my disappointment overcome me as I realized I was back in my room. The picture from the night before I got transported to Sekure (last night?) was still on my computer screen. I was wearing the same cloths as then too, and I couldn’t help but feel sad that it was all a dream.

“Are you awake, Myra?” My mom called from downstairs.

“Yeah I’m up!” I called back. I looked at the time, 6:45.

“Well, hurry up! You have a half an hour to get ready before the bus comes to pick you up for school!” She replied. Ugh… School.

I forced myself to sit up, a shooting pain spreading down my back. Ow, that’s what you get for sleeping on your desk, I scolded myself.

I gathered up the cloths I had set aside and went into the bathroom and jumping into the shower. When I was done, I quickly got dressed, brushed my teeth and put on a little bit of make-up. Looks good.  I ran downstairs.

“How did you sleep?” My mother greeted as I entered the kitchen.

“Good,” I replied, “I had the strangest dream.” I took a bowl out of the cabinet and the cereal out of another and set them on the table.

“What was it about?” She was putting together my lunch.

“I got like transported to another dimension and had to save the world.” I laughed; it seemed silly now, being gloomy over a dream.

I retrieved the milk and a spoon and proceeded to pour myself a bowl of cereal.

My mother laughed with me. “Nice.”

I finished my cereal and put the dirty dishes in the sink, glancing at the clock which read 7:17 “Oh dang! I gotta go!”

“Ok, here’s your lunch.” My mom said as she handed me my lunchbox. “Have a good day at school.”

“Thanks, I love you.” I picked up my backpack.

“I love you too!” she called as I ran out the door.

The bus came a few minutes later, and I quickly found a seat near the back. A couple stops later my best friend Rachael got on the bus and we spent the rest of the ride catching up on events over the summer. She had spent all summer in Europe; I spent all summer at home.

“Did you hear there’s a new guy?” She asked.

“No, where’s he from?” I wondered.

“I don’t know, but I heard he was cute.” She smiled.

We quickly reached school and were saddened as we went our separate ways to our lockers. I set up my little shelf, organized my books, and hung up the little mirror before gathered the materials I’d need for the first part of the day.

“Students, please remember to report to Homeroom before first hour.” The lady said over the speakers just before the bell rang.

I found my homeroom quickly, and barely listened as the teacher recited the school rules that I already knew. That didn’t take very long and the bell rang again, telling us it’s time for first hour.

My first class, English, I had a little more trouble finding. It was located in the farthest corner from my homeroom and got caught behind a group of annoyingly slow people. Argh! Some people actually like to get to class on time! I yelled at them in my head.

I reached the classroom just as the bell rang and found and took one of the empty seats in the front.

“Please take out a piece of paper and write a paragraph of something exciting that happened over your summer. You have 10 minutes.” The teacher instructed, and I immediately got to work.

I didn’t notice as a new guy walked in and was told to take the seat next to me. He sat down, and I glanced at him. Omg… I looked at him again, extremely flabbergasted.

“Lovely day, isn’t it Myra?” Zain asked.
