Eclipsed: Part Two

            I quickly spun around to face a metallic creature. Standing about 7’ tall he towered over my 5’2” frame. I stood there, staring at him, unsure of what to think. He was very slim and wasn’t wearing any cloths; although he didn’t have anything to hide anyway, I wasn’t even sure he was actually a he.

            “What, or who, are you?” I questioned, blinking again to see if this was actually real.

            “We are the elements of earth, born from the sun and moon” He replied, “I am Metal.”

            As he spoke, a few other ‘elements’ rose up behind him. One was as soft and blue as the ocean. Another was a rough mixture of brown and green. Bright red and yellows blazed in the third creature. The last was a milky white and seemed to drift like a gentle summer breeze. All of them built with the same structure and features: Tall, slender, with only dots for eyes and a linear mouth.

            “I am Water”

            “I am Earth”

            “I am Fire”

            “And I am Air”

            They all introduced themselves in the same robotic voice as Metal; only they each had their own unique ‘tone’.

            Amazed at their strong presence, I stood there in awe unable to speak or even think. But soon enough my thoughts came back to me. Am I in some kind of other dimension? Why am I here? I wondered, confused.

            “Yes, I suppose another ‘dimension’ would be a good definition. And you, Myra Elise Watson, were sent here by the prophecy to rescue Sun and Moon, whom have been captured by Lord Desolate” Air answered my unasked questions.

            “You can read minds? Prophecy? Rescue? Oh no mister, you must have the wrong girl. I can’t be a hero! I’m only 15! Last time I tried saving something, it didn’t work.  There is no way…” I said shaking my head, remembering the time I tried saving my pet hamster when he decided to go exploring and then he accidentally got captured by my cat…

            “Yes, uhuh, yeah. I know this all very hard for you to believe, but without you our world will be forever buried in evil. This affects you too, because right now your dimension has no sun and moon either.” Stated Earth.

            “No sun or moon?! Wouldn’t that ruin everything and send our world into an ice age?”

            “Yes, eventually, but the rudiments of time and space are not the same here. A day here equals not even a second on earth.” Water explained.

            “Oh, cool.”

            “Now we must hurry, we are running out of time.” Declared Fire. “The prophecy exclaims that ‘After a time of trial and darkness, a young woman shall be sent to bring back the light. A man sent by tragic terms shall accompany her, and they will journey past malevolence obstacles. The end bringing death along with life’.”  

            “Oh good, I get company! I knew there was no way I could do this alone!” I exclaimed delightfully, and then remembered the last part ‘The end shall bring death along with life’. “Wait, death? Who’s? Does it say?” I asked worriedly.  

            “No.” Responded Metal. “We know only of whom the two people they speak of are, you and Zain.” As he spoke a young man came around him. His short black hair brought out the blue in his striking eyes. He wore just a t-shirt and jeans, but that didn’t hide his intimidating muscles. He stood tall and brave at 6’, I felt comforted knowing he was to escort me.

            Taking a step forward he introduced himself “Hey, I’m Zain.” then held out his hand.

            I shook it. His strong grip almost crushing my hand, but I didn’t want to appear weak so I didn’t say anything about it. “Nice to meet you, I’m Myra.”

            “I know.” He Smiled. “You must be tired, here” He handed me the softest pair of pajamas you’ve ever felt and started leading me somewhere. He continued, “We have set up a hut for you for the night, you’ll need your rest, we’re starting on our journey tomorrow.”

            “Thanks” I squeaked as he opened the door of the hut for me.

            It seemed like the whole hut was made of wood, except for the roof which was covered in hay. I realized I didn’t have any shoes on as the dirt floor massaged my feet. There wasn’t any window, but somehow the hut was lit up so I could see. In the corner there was a single cot holding a tattered blanket and a flat pillow, and it didn’t seem very comfortable. Oh great, how am I suppose to get a good night’s sleep on that? I wondered. I quickly put on my pajamas and laid myself down on the makeshift bed.

            “Ahh!” Surprised, I quickly got back up on my feet. The bed was incredibly comfortable despite its looks! I guess you can’t judge a bed by its appearance I chuckled.

            “You alright?” I spun around to face Zain, standing in the doorway.

            “Haha, yeah I’m good. Hey uhh, have you been there the whole time?” I asked, feeling a little embarrassed.

            “No, haha, I heard you shout and came to check on you.” He explained.

            “Oh, that’s good. Yeah I was surprised at how comfy the bad is” I sighed in relief.

            “Oh, I see you haven’t gotten used to the fact that nothing’s as it seems here.” He observed. “Now get to bed, I’ll wake you up in the morning.” He said turning around to leave.

            “Goodnight!” I shouted after him.

            “Goodnight!” I heard him holler back from outside my hut.

            Feeling very secure in my hut in Sekure, I decided maybe saving the world wasn’t going to be so bad after all, especially with Zain by my side. Feeling content, I quickly drifted off to sleep.
