The long road stretched out in front of me. I'd been driving for hours, 7 to be exact. And it had only been about 7 hours and 15 minutes since I'd found out I had impregnated my teacher.

Her words were still running through my mind "I'm pregnant Xen... and it's yours..." over and over. like a sick, broken record. My own reaction was there too, in the back of my mind. Causing my stomach to churn with guilt. "Oh" was all I could say. Before turning my back on her and leaving.

Back to Isabelle's house, who will only ever get a scribbled note on her kitchen table telling her that I had to leave. I packed my things without even thinking about it. Everything was just thrown into a few bags. I had to get away, as quick as possible.

I went and collected Derrek's car from the garage out at the mine, where it had been since his passing, hauled everything I had into the trunk and drove. Not looking back. I didn't even wave back at Mike and Jake as I passed them. I still can't even make sense of what has happened. Or what I am doing.

But for now it's for the best. It has to be. People will talk, they'll all know. She might even lose her job, I hope not. But I can't be a father, I'm not ready. The force of those few words had woken me up. Brought me back down to Earth. Why did I ever come here? Why was I so determined to leave home when all my parents wanted to do was protect me from this type of thing.

By now I was almost home, to my real home. With my parents. I'd have to lie to them, noone can ever know the truth. Nayelle must have seen it in my eyes, she would never follow me. She would never tell anyone, and I'd never tell anyone how I got my teacher pregnant.
