A Taste Of Life Under Heaven ch 6 Date: June 2nd (Saturday)

     "I think we should call up Spencer and get his personal report on Jesi. Wait, you do know who she is an all, right?"

     "Yeah He told me. So let's go call him."

     "OK, follow me," AJ took one step and fell to her knee, "Ow! Ah--- I hurt my foot when I kicked it, ah! I've never done that! Ow! Ow!"

     "Can you walk?" Ryan said as he helped her up.

     "I thi..." she almost fell again but Ryan caught her, "Ow! No, I don't think so... well not on my own. Can you help me?"

     "Yeah, one sec," Ryan put one arm under AJ's knees and another on her back and picked her up, "Is this enough help?"

     "A little much, but good. The living room is in there," she pointed through another door.

     "Alright," Ryan carried her through the kitchen and into the living room, "Does it matter where I set you?"

     "No. Ether couch is fine."

     "Kay," Ryan walked over to the nearest couch and set AJ down, "Here," he reached over and handed AJ the cordless phone.

     "Thanks Ryan. I'd probably still be on the floor if you hadn't come over," AJ said before she dialed Spencer's number, "Hello?...Hey Spencer... yeah. Can I put you on speaker? Ryan's here... OK. One sec...      You there?"

     "Yeah," Spencer said from the other end of the line. "Hey Ryan."

     "Yo," Ryan said as he sat next to AJ on the couch. She propped her leg up on Ryan's lap and smiled.

     "So... how was Jesi n` all?" AJ asked.

     "She seemed cool. I think it's going to be a fun...different... 7th and 8th grade. So what's up on your end?"

     "Nothin' much," Aj said as she shifted her leg from Ryan's lap to a stool near the couch.

     "What do yo---," Ryan started to protest.

     "Hey guys. Sorry, mom really wants me to get off the phone. Bye," Spencer said really fast then hung up.

     "That was...awkward," Aj said as she handed Ryan the phone to put on the charger. "Hey, can you get me a Sprite from the fridge?"

     "Yeah," he left and came back with two cans of Sprite. "So, now what?"

     "Wanna watch a movie?"

     "Sure, what you got?" Ryan asked as he sat next to AJ.

     "Anything. Just thank Paper-view."

     "Hmm... my favorite movie is 'Pirates of the Caribbean.'"

     "Then that's what we'll watch," Aj said as she turned the TV on.

     "Cool."

     AJ and Ryan started watching the movie and then the phone rang.

     "Here," Ryan handed Aj the phone.

     "Thanks. Hello?... Fine... I had my keys... Doesn't matter... I'm OK. I already answered that... don't care! Bye!" Aj hung up on the person, "Mom."

     "Ah," Ryan paused, "I'm really happy you invited me over."
"I am too," Aj gave Ryan a hug and he hugged her back.

     Ryan and Aj watched the rest of the movie and then Aj spoke up, "You wanna go play video games? Well, maybe not. There in my room and my room is upstairs."

     "I'm good," Ryan stood up and picked her up again. "You said your room is upstairs?"

     "Yes," Aj replied with a smile.

     "OK," Ryan went through the front room and up the stairs. "which room is yours?"

     "The one with the closed door."

     Ryan carried her down the hall and nudged the door open. "Wow, clean-ness. It beats my room. Your's is awesome," Ryan said as he set Aj on her bed.

     "Thanks. Just turn the Play Station and TV on. It's on the right channel," Aj said as she logged onto her laptop.

     "Kay," Ryan said as he ran his finger through the games. "I'ma play this one," Ryan said as he held up "Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom."

     "You're a little kid aren't you?"

     "Sure am," Ryan said as he sat down with the controller in his hand.

     "Lift your legs up. I'm going to pull the bed out," Aj said as she jumped down off what seemed to be the bed (not letting her bad foot touch the floor, "No, this is the day bed. I call it the couch. The trundle bed, AKA my bed, is underneath," Aj finished as if answering a question Ryan hadn't even asked.

     "Wow," was all Ryan said as he watched Aj pull out the trundle bed.

     "Do you want me to pop it up or leave it down?"

     "Up."

     "OK," she pulled up the bed and it met the same height as the day bed. "You sleep on the trundle. It will be easier to play video games anyway."

     "Were sleeping up here?" Ryan asked as he scooted onto the bed.

     "Unless you wanna sleep by your self downstairs... ow! Ah. Shit. I hit my foot! Ow!"

     "AJ, are you sure you're OK?"

     "Positive Ryan."

     I'll take your word for it. But yeah... I'd rather not sleep alone. I'll stay up here"

     "That's what I thought you'd say."

     AJ started to put her headphones on but then Ryan spoke up, "Hey look AJ. I know I just met you yesterday, but I want to ask you something."

     "Yes?" Aj thought she knew were this was going. She was right.

     "I really like you and was wondering if you would want to be my girlfriend?"

     "I've been waiting for that question for what's seemed like an eternity. But yes Ryan, I would love to," she leaned over and gave him a kiss on his cheek.

     Ryan just blushed and whispered "Thanks" to her.

Yep. My mom's a bitch. I MIGHT get ch 7 up. IF I'm lucky.
