A Taste of Life Under Heaven (Ch 1) Date: September 05

"Spence! Get up! We need to go to school! Cmon! Get up! It's first day of Middle School!"

"AJ, how did you get in?" Spencer groaned half asleep.

"I let myself in like I always do!"

Spencer just gave AJ a blank stare. "Fine, I'm up. Now can you leave so I can get ready?"

"Why certainly Sir Sleepy Head,: Aj said sarcastically as she walked out, closing the door behind her.

Spencer and AJ have been friends since before kindergarten. They've never gotten in fights, and they always do everything together. They have the same classes every year since... well forever! AJ was always known for short tempers. She always try to over power her mom. AJ and her mom are always in fights, but when Spencer is there, he keeps her cool and helps her not get into so many fights. Because those two never get along, AJ practically lives at Spencer's house. It's almost to separate those two.

"Took ya long enough! Now let's go! I don't want to be late for the bus!" AJ complained, pulling Spencer towards the door.

"Hey, wait. Where's my mom?" Spencer asked, pulling away.

"Remember, she left yesterday for a meeting? That's why I let myself in!" She replied, about to yank Spencer's arm again.

"Oh yeah," he jerked his arm away, "might I ask you if you don't pull off my arm?!"

"OK, fine," AJ went behind Spencer and started to push him out.

"Ha ha. Very funny, AJ."

She just responded with a big smile.

About two minutes later they were at the corner, their bus stop:

"See, AJ, we didn't miss the..."

"Ivy! Ah! Yo! Ah! Oh my god! It's been forever since I've seen you... AH!" Aj yelled as she ran up to hug her other friend standing at the bus stop.

"Oh my gosh! Hey AJ! I can't wait for school, can you?!" Ivy said, returning the hug.

Ivy and AJ were best friends. Ivy didn't know Spencer as much as AJ, but they were friends with each other.

As the two girls were catching up over lost time of the summer, Spencer finally caught up.

"Gawd... you girls are in such conversation, I feel like I've been gone for hours!" Spencer complained.

"Well hello to you too, Spencer," Ivy said, hand on her hip.

"Oh right, hi," Spencer said with a small wave.

"Hey look, after school, can all of you go to the IcePlex? My mom said she would take us... oh and Megan might meet us there too," AJ mentioned.

"Oh... my... god..." Spencer said with big eyes.

"What?" Ivy and AJ said in unison.

"AJ's mom is being NICE!" he responded while throwing his hands up. Everyone just started laughing really hard.

"But yeah, I'm pretty sure I can go," Ivy said still laughing.

"Yeah, me too," Spencer got out, still trying to calm down, "oh look, the bus."

"Yay!" Aj said, starting to walk towards the bus.

Once the three got to school, they went to their home rooms. Spencer and AJ, of course, had the same home room. Ivy had the one next door. The entire day, they went through how each day would work, they got their schedules (AJ and Spencer's were the same, again, and Ivy had lunch and PE with them.), and did a few of those lame activities every teacher makes their kids do on the first day.

"Yes! This year is going to be great! I'm so happy we gat all our classes together again!" Aj said jumping up and down. Then she gave Spencer a huge hug.

"Yeah, I'm happy too, but I would be a lot happier if i weren't being squeezed to death!" Spencer forced out.

"AJ, let him go. He's human and needs to breathe too," Ivy said said smirking as she walked up to them.

"OK fine," she said releasing Spencer (who now is gasping), "So what took you long? We thought Ms. Morison ate you!"

"Ha. Yeah.... ow. AJ --- you hurt," Spencer was rubbing his arm.

"Heh. Sorry."

"But Ms. Morison wanted to talk to me. I only talked to her for five minutes and I hate her. Out of all the teachers, why does the Social Studies teacher have to be the worst!" Ivy complained.

"I'm glad me and AJ don't have Social Studies now. But Mr. Rheed is AWESOME! Math is going to be awesome!"

"Yeah, but cmon. We need to get to my house so my mom can get us to the IcePlex. I saw Megan today. She said she's going to be there but might be a little late."
"Yep. OK. Now let's hope your mom won't bite our heads off. But I think lil Spency here is safe. I swear Mrs. Vicky loves him more than you, AJ"
"Agreed! And I won't take that as an insult!"

"Well I do!" Spencer yelled throwing his hands up.

Once everyone got to AJ's house (via bus), her mom dropped them off at the IcePlex. After they got there and all three of them were putting on their skates, Megan walked in.

"Megan! Megan the cowgirl!" AJ yelled as she pointed at her. Spencer and Ivy just started laughing.

"Oh em gee. My skate dress does NOT make me look like a cowgirl!" Megan protested at the same time stomping her foot down.

"OK fine let's just skate," Spencer stood up and wobbled to the door.

"Don't fall Spence,"AJ teased.

"I wo... OAH!!!!" Spencer tripped on the bench leg and fell on his knee, "..n't"

"Sure Spencer... sure...." Aj mocked.

"Nice," Ivy and Megan chimed. The three girls just busted out laughing. Spencer responded with a blank stare. He just got up and went through the doors to the ice.
