Summer School Chapter 17Sorry it took so long, guys.
|
I hurled so badly that my stomach hurt so much afterward. Maybe I puked up a damn spleen or something. I don't really know....I don't pay attention in healthy class either. Well, who needs to know all the fucking muscles in the human body besides a doctor? And I don't plan on being a doctor anytime soon.
Maybe I'll be a coyote or a vet or something.
Okay, so I know that coyote sounds like something a vet would take care of, but it's not. It's girls who dance on the bars, drink watered-down drinks for money and sleep with men, also. No, it's not a propstitute. The only way that the girls will actually sleep with somebody is if their drinks aren't watered-down. I don't plan on having a non-watered-down drink.
Anyways, just thought that I would clear that up.
Deciding that an awkward situation is the last thing that I need on my plate, I changed my clothes, pinned my hair up and left the house. Where did I get the clothes since my bedroom was being 'occupied'? Well, things like this happen often so I usually keep a spare pair of clothes in the basement, my mom's room, the guest room, and one pair in each of the three giant bathrooms. I alos keep an extra pair behind the sewing machine in the washroom. The backroom is what I call it. It contains the washing machine and dryer.
Now, where was I going to go? To tell th truth, I hadn't thought of that. And I also hadn't thought of what pair of clothes I was on either, obviously. The jean shorts were like Daisy Duke's and my tube top split into three different straps at the top. I looked like I was going to go to the beach, but I wasn't....And there wasn't a beach for fifty miles around here.
So here I was, standing in my own driveway, no car, and no way to get where I was going....After I figure out where I'm going. Shit.
* * *
So now here I sit, my thoughts drifting as my feet hung off of the cliff.
This used to be my most favorite spot to come when I had something bothering me. Now I just come for the great view and a place to clear my troubled thoughts.
The view? Oh, yes, I did mention something about that damn thing, didn't I? Well, let me explain how I found the cliff in the first place....
"I don't wanna go!" Her voice rang out from between the trees, wide and loud and frightened.
"But you have to! It's no fun if you don't go all the way with the dare!"His voice, young and boyish, had convinced her to come. He was her crush and she was so certaom that he would protect her. He wouldn't.
So, she ran after him, her feet nimble in the crowded and overgrown forest. The vines seemed to grab at her, to make her stop, to tell her to turn around and go home. She didn't listen.
The view was breathtaking. As the cliff lay on an overlook of the city, you were able to see the smog, hear the horns blaring, and lsiten to the rush of the city. The thing was, the city wasn't that big. No, it just dipped out of sight over the horizon, from there it continued as farm land.
She literally almost fell over the edge. And hten her crush grabbed her arm and held her suspended over the edge. She was certain he was going to save her. And then he grinned wickedly and let her drop...
So here that little girl was today. All grown up and hardened from the ways of life. Her 'crush' had moved.
She had fallen on a ledge that out spurted from the cliff. With only centimeters to spare.
She had cried and begged for him to help her. He had laughed and left and it was about a day later when she was found. Thank goodness that summer hadn't fully arrived, or else she would have had a heat stroke.
"What are you doing here?"Another male voice said and for a second, I stiffened, thinking it was my crush. It wasn't and slowly, very slowly, I turned to view the intruder to my sacred grove.
"Aw, fuck," it spit from my mouth as I realized the person I was staring at was Mark. And then I realized that he knew my secret place.
"Double fuck!" That, too, was barely above a whisper.
