After much thought and arguing with herself, Valerie decided to walk back to Brandon's house. She just couldn't leave him like that, but she can't let go of the fact that Alex is there too. The last thing she really needs is to be killed. And by a blood-thirsty vampire at that. She gave herself a headache thinking about Alex...how did he know so much about her? She never met or seen him in her life, and she also noticed something strange about his eyes...it was the same kind of hazel like Brandon's, but when he stared at her...smelling her scent...his eyes turned into a red color...a deep red color...blood red.....
She shivered and pushed that thought aside. Summonning all the courage she had, Valerie started to retrace her once hasty steps down the lonely dirt road.
After about a half-hour later, she saw Brandon's house in the distance. Determined, she walked faster. A silver car drove by that looked very familiar. And not even three seconds later, it stopped, turned around, and beeped at her. Valerie looked behind her...
"Brandon!!!", she cried. He wasn't dead! Relief showered over her as her fears drained away. She practically ran to the car to go talk to him.
"Hey, um, sorry about my brother...how he acted, I mean...", he said. He doesn't sound like himelf, Valerie thought. I guess he's really upset...
"No. Don't be sorry. You warned me and I didn't listen. It's all my fault. I should have just said, 'Okay, let's go to my house then.', but no, I had to insist on going to yours. I'm such a loser..." Valerie felt so guilty.
"It's okay. Don't beat yourself up for that. It was just a little mistake, that's all. So, where you wanna go?"
"Well, I was heading back to your house..."
"You want to go back? Are you sure?"
"Actually, no. I don't..." And if on cue, her stomach grumbled, begging to be fed. She gave a nervous laugh. "Um, do you think we could get a bite to eat?" He seemed to smile when she said 'bite'.
"Sure, hop in.", he said as his smile widened. Valerie went around to the passenger's side and got in. "What do you feel like eating? My treat. I guess you know why."
"Aww! You are such a kiss-up.", she laughed. "Well, I guess pizza would be okay for now."
"Alrighty then. Sounds good."
He stepped on the gas and off they went. Though Valerie couldn't help to notice that something felt wrong, but didn't know what. Every thing seemed normal, but was it? She examined Brandon, checking for difference. His short, dark brown hair a little messed up, nothing weird there. Hazel eyes the same, no alter color. His face still familiar...hello, when did he have a scar? It looked like it was a pretty deep cut and would take some time to heal. It was right above his right eyebrow...and it wasn't there before. This is Brandon...right?, she asked herself as her inside twisted and turned into knots of fear. This just couldn't be Alex. No, it's impossible. She tried to convince herself, but she just couldn't totally believe it. She needed to know. Her life might be still in danger after all.
"Um...Brandon? How did you get this scar?", she reached up to touch his scar, but then he shot his hand toward her arm snaching it in mid-air. He turned to her...and he had the most wicked smile on his face...
