     "So.....why is it that you warned me in class about this? You still haven't told me, out with it!" Valerie said to Brandon as he drives to his house.

     Brandon didn't say anything at first, but then he just sighed and said, "I guess I can't delay the truth no further, can I?"

     "No, you can't. We're alone together and it is the time to tell me."

     "Very well. I really didn't want you to come because...my brother, he's really dangerous to be around. Sometimes I feel he doesn't even know what he's doing at times."

     "Is he mentally ill or something? Or is he just stupid?"

     "No. He's smart. Very smart. Stupidity is the least of our problems. What I meant at first is that it seems he has an alter self. An evil alter self. And if it ever takes over him.....no, I can't tell you."

     "What?! What happens?! Tell me!!"

     "No. It's for me to know, not you. Plus, you would regret it if I told you anyway. All I ask of you when we get there is that you stay away from him, understand? Don't go near him and don't let him near you, got it?"

     "Jeez! You can't let me do anything fun, can you?", Valerie mumbled angerly.

     "You think risking your life is fun?! You are one sick girl, I'm telling you...", he grumbled back.

     "It's not my fault that this is the way I am! I crave adventure. I feed on excitement. And there's nothing you can do about it! So, ha, ha, ha! In your worried little face!" Valerie said followed with a stick-out tongue.

     He was a bit silent after that. But then he said, "I don't know what to do, embrace you or strangle you."

     "What?" Confused, she just dropped the conversation. What did that mean?, Valerie thought. What could he mean by that? She thought about it so much that she didn't notice the car had stopped.

     "Umm, hello? Is there a mind in that head? I said that we're here." Brandon said to her while tapping her shoulder.

     "What? Oh. We're here.", Valerie replied with a nervous laugh.

     "Were you so deep in thought that you went out of your head or something?"

     "Ha. ha, ha. That was so funny. I'm just dying of laughter."

     Brandon got out of the car and went around to Valerie's side. He opened the car and gave her his hand. She took it and got out. Then, Valerie took the first look at his house. It was so beautiful! It looked like it was built in the 1900's. Two stories high and had a balcony too. It had the whole 'charming' thing down, of course.

     Brandon noticed the long stare. "Like it? It's old but it runs very well. I certainly love it myself."

     "Me too. It's just so captivating..." Valerie stared just a bit more.

     "Well, I think that's enough 'captivating' for now. Let's go."

     Valerie shut the car door and let Brandon lead the way. She was still holding his hand, and she didn't want to let go either. There was something about him...something that had her feel so right in the world, even though her whole life she was a misfit who just couldn't find her place in life. He felt so warm and comforting.....

     "Are you okay, Valerie?" Brandon said, suddenly stopping, making her thoughts blow away.

     "Uh, yeah. I'm okay. Why?"

     "You looked like you were about to pass out, are you sure you're okay?"

     "Yeah, yeah. I'm alright."

    They reach the steps to the house, Brandon got a key from his pocket, unlocked the door, pushed it open a little and turned to Valerie. "Ladies first.", he said in a gentleman-like voice.

     "Then shouldn't you go in first?" Valerie joked playfully.

     "Why you little-! Just get in the house!", He pointed his finger and turned his head toward the enteryway of his house. Then his face went white and his eyes went wide. "No...this isn't happening...", he mumbled, his vioce in pure fear.

     Valerie looked to see what happened.

     "Ohmigod!", she gasped. And she knew what she saw would hant her forever.....
