“Kaitlyn Brookes?” bellowed Mrs. Kane, the camp counselor. “Here” Kaitlyn yelled back through the crowd. She then went back talking to her friends Candis and Michelle. “Can you believe our parents made us come to this dump?” she asked. “I know, I mean, come on. We’re 16, we’re too old for camp.“ Candis replied. ”Hey, at least it’s not an ‘All Girls Camp‘, look over there” Michelle said pointing to a group of hot guys. The three girls giggled and walked to the counselors cabin together. They needed to pick up their cabin number and keys.

Amazingly they were all in the same cabin, along with another girl named Amber. The three best friends walked to their cabin to find the girl already inside. Michelle spoke up first. “Hi, you must be Amber, we’re your roomies. I’m Michelle, you can call me Shelly. This is Kaitlyn, Kaitie for short, and that’s Candis, we call her Candi.” “Um, hi” Amber replied shyly. “Are you from around here? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in school.”Candis asked. “No, I’m not from around here. My parents and I just moved here from Delaware last week. They said summer camp would be a good experience to make some friends.”

“Oh, well I think you’ve just made three friends. So just make your--” Kaitlyn got cut off by the loudspeaker. “All campers report to center camp please” the co-counselor screeched through the mike. On their way to center camp, the girl from hell itself approached them with her possy. “Why isn’t it the freaks, and look, you got a new addition to your ugly ass group.” Kayla, the clique leader, said. The rest of her possy just snickered. “Is that all you could think of? Freaks? Damn bitch! No wonder you got left back in 5^th grade!” Michelle threw back at her. She was always the girl who would open her mouth now, and think later and sometimes that got her into a lot of trouble.

Kayla and her possy just stared back in amazement and confusion of Michelle standing up to her like that. Kayla was held back in 5^th grade, so she was a year older than everyone else, that’s what made her think she is so popular when she wasn’t.

Michelle pushed her aside to make room for the other three girls to get through. As they passed they all looked at Kayla and her possy and laughed. At Center Camp the teens grouped around the counselor and co-counselor wondering why they were called there. Kaitlyn back up to let another girl through and bumped into Ben. ”Oops, sorry” she said backing away from him. “It’s ok, I mean, it’s not everyday a hot girl bumps into me” he replied. Kaitlyn felt herself blush but tried to keep her cool. “Oh, I’m Ben by the way” “Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, or Kaity for short.” “Cool, so uh, maybe later-” He got cut off by the co-counselors voice.

“Hello campers! I’m your Co-Counselor Ms.Dean. I called you here to pick up your schedules. Don’t lose them because you will not get another one. These schedules tell you what activities we do each day of each week for the next 3 months. Have a great summer everyone.” she said while passing out the schedules. After Ben and Kaitlyn received their schedules Ben continued talking. “So, before, I was asking you if maybe you might want to come over to my cabin tonight. Me and the guys are having a little get together and you’re welcome to come.” “Oh…well me and the girls in my cabin were going to unpack and decorate…but I guess that can wait. Can they come too?” “Yeah, sure. So tonight at 8, see you there.” He said while walking backwards toward his cabin. “Yeah, I’ll be there.”

That night at Kaitlyn’s cabin.

“Hey, aren’t you gonna unpack?” Candis asked Kaitlyn. “No,” she replied. “I met this guy and he’s having a little party at his cabin tonight and he invited all of us, do you wanna go? “yeah, sure. What time?” Michelle asked. “Um, 8, so in about an hour.” “Ok, I better get ready. Are you two coming?” Candis and Amber both replied ‘yes’ and the girls got ready for the party.

At the party. “Hey Ben” Kaitlyn called through the crowd. “Oh, hey. Glad you came, so just make yourself at home and have some fun.” He said as he walked to the door to greet them. The girls talked to campmates and made some new friends but Kaitlyn couldn’t help but notice that Ben was looking at her all night.

After 2 hours of fun the guests left and soon it was just Kaitlyn’s and Ben’s roommates. “So, did you have a good time?” Ben asked as he sat next to Kaitlyn on the couch. “Yeah, I did. And did you have a good time watching me all night?” She replied. “Oh…so you noticed…” he said with a grin on his face. Kaitlyn couldn’t help but smile back. The three girls interrupted them because they were tired and were leaving. Kaitlyn said her goodbyes to the guys and Ben said they were welcomed back anytime.

Back at their cabin Michelle was the first to speak as always. “Ok, spill it.” she said to Kaitlyn. “Spill what?” she asked. “I know Ben was watching you and you were watching him too so spill it or I’ll spill it for you.” “Ok fine,” Kaitlyn said defeated. “I guess I do like him…..and it looks like he likes me too but I don’t know if he really LIKES me like that or just a friend. There, happy?” “Yes, I am happy. And I only have one thing to say to you. Go for it. It’s obvious he likes you so just make a move already!” The girls laughed and talked upon themselves until they fell asleep.
