"Honey, honey!"called my mother from the other room. Instead of acknowleding her call I just lay there flipping through my teen magazine. Some people would refer to me as a rebellious teen, others would just asume that I am going through a tough time. In all reality I have been through some what of a tough time. I go by the name of Kailee Steel, and I am now 14 years old.
It has been exactly two years since the death of my father. He had been killed in an outragoues car crash colliding with a drunk driver. He left me to suffer with my mother as my legal gardian. She is somewhat a dramstic mess, it seems to me that some of her was buried along with my father. See, my mother and I don't actually "bond". I constantly have to exit the room on count of her dramatic outburst.
"Kailee are you home?" I heard her shout even louder. I just turned my ipod to full blast and ignored her yelling. "There you are!" I heard her shout over my roaring music. She quickly walked over to where I was laying and jerked my headphones out of my ears. "What gives mom?" I ask her rolling over on my back. Can't you even once act like you care about me , Kailee?" She asked gazing sadly into my dark blue eyes.
I lay there and folded my hands comfortably behind my head. "What ever do you want mother dearest?" I replied sarcastically. She just stood there continueing to stare in my direction. "Well, you know I have been seeing someone , right?" She asked nerviously. "Hmm why don't you tell me something I don't know," I answered rolling my eyes. She took a seat on the edge of my bed, and removed her fire red hair out of her eyes.
"Don't act like this is a surprise, Kailee, you knew soon or a later you were going to have to face him," She said revealing a more sterness in her voice. "Tonight I have invited him down to dinner," She said smiling warmly. I just lay there staring straight up to the ceiling, lost in a sudden thought. I glanced quickly at my mother, who sat there with a frown, and teary eyes. "Alright , mother, but don't expect him to ever replace my father," I spat out at her trying to hide the sypathy I felt for her.
Her glazy eyes suddenly began to sparkle. "Oh Kailee, I would never ask you to replace your father, but I do ask you to at least show him a little respect," She answered pleading me with her eyes. "Yes , Diane ," I answered calling her by her first name. She stood up quickly. "Now please try to wear something a little decent, and please baby do something with that hair," she said exiting the room.
I just lay there and rolled my eyes. "Please baby, do something with that hair," I said mocking her. I slowly removed myself off the bed and walked over to my mirror. The sight of me made me gasp, maybe my mother was right. I gazed up and down at my shirt that was torn , and my jeans that were mud-stained. I quickly rushed to my closet and shuffled through it until I pulled out a pair of hip-hugging jeans, and a pink speghetti strap tank top to match. After I quickly dressed I appeared back at my mirror.
I looked somewhat better. "Well I might at well make an impression," I said aloud pulling my hair from a pony tail. I quickly worked in some hair product, which quickly expressed my natural curly brown hair. I also applied some mascara and lip gloss. Some what satisfied I quickly started on my way to find my mother. On my way there I quickly froze in my tracks. There stood a tall figure , with dirty blond hair, but beside him stood the most breathtaking boy I had ever laid eyes on.
He too, had dirty blond hair , but I was absolutely mezmorized by his athletic body and his dark blue eyes. "There you are honey!" My mom called with an embarrassing giggle. "Richard I would like you to meet my daughter, Kailee," she announced proudly. "Why hello there , Kailee," he said extending his hand. I quickly grabbed it not removing my gaze at the handsome guy who stood at his side. He quickly smiled," and this is my son, Troy." I flashed a quick smile at Troy who stood there shly flipping his hair out.
Richard suddenly walked towards my mother and they both entered the kitchen. "Hey Troy," I said walking towards him. "Hi," he replied shivering from his nerves. I couldn't help but smile. I sensed some sensitivity in Troy, which made me stare even more at him. He quickly fled to the kitchen following Richard and my mother. I felt Myself blush all over. I quickly discouraged my blush and rushed in to the kitchen to join them.
