Finding the truth 1

Chapter 1
It was a day people would soon forget though I don’t see how. The earth had changed. It was cloudy but the sun shone through the clouds. It was warm but yet so cold, the rain thundered on the rooftops but snow fell gently onto the ground. The water and snow never collided and once the snow hit the ground it would melt. Everyone stared at the sky wondering what was happening.
Then the weather increased and four lights shone in the sky all of different colors, red, blue, green, and white. They shone against the sky blinding everyboddy. They fell to the ground with out a sound. They were beautiful girls each looking magical one had short red hair and blue eyes like fire.
Another had long hair like a waterfall running down her back and turquise eyes like the sea. One had brown hair that was entangled with vines and eyes as green as holly leaves. And the youngest had startling silver hair that stopped at her shoulders and cold blue eyes.
The people stared at the girls who fell from the sky. "It can’t be.." some murmered. "It’s impossible.."
"What are they talking about Vulkun?" the youngest asked.
"Us," the fiery one named Vulkun answered. "We are different Tempono, but they think us a threat I can feel it."
"Don’t worry Tempono, it will be ok. We need to find Cisne she should be here." The one with waterfall hair asked.
"She is here!" a voice cackled from the crowd. Everything became dark and a woman draped in black with hair like a crows nest and red eyes emerged from the people.
"Oscuro! I should have known," Vulcun said. "You are not to be here!"
"Yes I am supposed to be here, I sent myself to kill everyone of you so the four powers of life will be no more!"
"Where is our sister?" the plant one asked.
"She is fine Verdo but if you want to see her you are welcome to join her," Oscuro said.
"No. You set her free. She has more power then you will ever have!" The water one said.
"Is that so? Well she would have escaped me and she wouldn’t be like this Ozean!" she said and shoved a girl with long blonde braids her hands bound. She had scars on her face and her arms were burned.
"Cisne!" The Ozean cried and tried to rush over to her but Vulkun held her back. "There is dark magic around her and she won’t recognize you," Vulkun said.
"Let her go!" Verdo yelled.
"As you wish," Oscuro said and untied Cisne . Cisne walked towards them her eyes glinting red.
"Stay back!" Vulkun threatened but Cisne heard none of it. "Get ready-" Vulkan said. Suddenly fire burst around Vulkan and none could get to her. But Cisne quickly downed the protection with water.
"Tempono! Ice!" she yelled and A cavern of ice went around Tempono but Cisne chipped of the ice. Tempono made snow fall wildly but it had no effect on Cisne.
Cisne grabbed her sisters and slashed their necks with her nails and they fell to the ground. Verdo grabbed Ozean and made a wall of vines around them but darkness seeped through the vines and there stood Cisne.
They could hear Oscuro cackling outside. "Run," Verdo whispered "you must survive."
"No." Ozean answered. "If she kills us her evil power will subside and Oscuro can do no more to her."
Cisne grabbed Verdo and raked her nails on her neck. Verdo fell to the ground and the vines wilted and Ozean summoned waterfalls to surround her. But Cisne walked through the water and grabbed Ozean’s neck. Ozean closed her eyes waiting for pain to sear through her body. She felt a simple touch and no pain she looked and there it was a big gash right where ti should be and then darkness filled her eyes and Cisne and her dropped to the ground Cisne still clinging to Ozean’s neck.
Oscuro walked to them and laughed. "Foolish girls," and went away. Four peasant women walked over to each of the women.
"Oh my goodness," one of them said who was by Vulkun she held up a necklace with a red stone with silver engraving of fire. Each of them found the same with a the girl’s powers engraved on it.
Cisne stood up and looked at her hands. The peasent women stared and started backing away but then one placed a necklace in Cisne’s hands.
"No," Cisne said giving the necklace back to the woman. "Keep it and it will grant you a gift," and without another word she walked away leaving the women staring at the treasure they held in their hands.
My grandpa finished telling the story and stared into the fire. "Grandpa? Is this true?" I asked.
My grandpa nodded. "It’s been passed down for generations."
"Grandpa, I am twelve, I don’t believe in fairy tales any more," I said trying to make him tell the truth.
"It’s not make-believe Ember, do you know why you are named Ember?" I shook my head. "It’s because of Vulkun, she had the power of fire and we want you to be strong and courageous like her."
"John? Are you filling her head with fairy tales again?" my Grandma asked.
"They’re not fairy tales Elly and I have something to prove it!" My grandpa said and pulled out a box with a red ribbon on it. "Happy Birthday Ember!"
"Thanks Grandpa. But aren’t we supposed to wait until mom and dad get home?" I grinned.
"You can show it off then. Open it." I pulled the ribbon and it came undone easily. I slowly opened the box inside was a necklace with a red stone and engraved on it was a gold flame. "Grandpa.." I said and put the necklace on and it shone like fire in the darkness. Suddenly the door burst open and there was my mom and dad carrying presents. I rush to them and showed them the necklace.
"It’s beautiful!" my mom exclaimed. "Where did you get it dad?"
"I’ve had it for a long time waiting for the first born granddaughter," he said and winked.
We sat down and I opened my presents and had cake and ice cream then my mom announced the biggest surprise ever. My mom drew in a breath and then her and my dad shouted at the same time, "We’re going to have a baby!"
My mouth dropped. Twelve years apart a new baby brother or sister! What were they thinking? I couldn’t live with a sibling twelve years younger!
My grandma and Grandpa hugged my parent’s but I did not I stared at the necklace.
"Aren’t you happy Ember?" My mom asked. I nodded trying to hide my feelings. Soon my parents decided it was time to go. I kissed my grandparents on the cheek and gave them hugs. On the car ride home I stared at the necklace wondering if the story was true. When we got home I checked my e-mails before going to bed. You would not believe how many Happy Birthday e-mails there were. There were one from each of my friends about our Tping tonight and there was one from well, no one. The subject was DO NOT OPEN!
Weird, I thought and opened it anyway. There was a picture of a girl with flaming red hair and eye like blue fire and around her neck was a necklace with a red stone with a flame engraved on it in silver.
Brooke shook herself awake. She looked at her clock and saw it was 2:00 AM. She grogily got out of bed and pulled on her sweat pants and t-shirt and grabbed her flashlight and set off to her friends house. They were going to TP someone for her friend Ember’s birthday. It was her three BFFs, Ember, Lilly, and Crystal. She only had to walk a block or two and her flashlight beam bounced on the road.
Suddenly headlights shone on her and a black mustang stopped by her. She didn’t look but she heard the door open and footsteps.
"What is an attractive girl like you doing out here all alone?" a voice asked. She didn’t look around and kept quiet.
Then she felt hands grip her shoulders and spin her around. There was a man with a greasy black ponytail in his mid-twenties.
"You are a pretty girl, what’s your name?" he asked.
"Brooke," she said quietly keeping her face down.
"Pretty name, fit for a pretty girl," he said cupping her chin and pulling her face up to face him.
"Leave me alone," she said.
"Oh, well you might tell me as where you’re going Brooke, and I can drive you there."
"No!" she said shaking free of his grip and backing away. "Leave me alone! I’ll call the cops!"
"Ah, a fiesty one aren’t you? Let me just drive you somewhere," he said gripping her and shoving her to the car.
"No!" she said and shook from his grip and ran down the street she heard the man yelling and then heard the car gaining speed behind her. She had no choice. She ran to the nearest house and knocked on the door several times. She rung the doorbell but no answer and the car was in the driveway.
She ran and ran until she found a house she was looking for. She knocked on eth door and rang the doorbell. Suddenly lights turned on and the man noticed it too and drove away fast.
Ember’s mom opened the door and gasped. "Brooke! What are you doing at this late hour?"
"Well I was going to meet some friends to go Tping but I got chased by this insane man trying to kidnap me!"
"Oh, come on in. I’ll call your dad and have him come pick you up. I’ll wake Ember up."
Brooke sighed with relief as she sat down at the table and a mug of hot chocolate was put in front of her. She sipped it quietly and heard thumping down the stairs and saw Ember pull a chair up and sit down next to her a necklace with a red stone with a silver ingraving of a flame.
