Belle For Short...Part One

Belle For Short
"Would you like to dance with me?" Cody Miller, my wonderful boyfriend asked me. I smiled my dazzling white smile at him and took his outstretched hand. We walked onto the floor and everybody else stopped what they were doing to watch us, me in my dazzling blue gown and Cody in his sexy tuxedo. He twirled me around and around. He leaned in a gave me a soft kiss on my cheek. Then he whispered in my ear...Unfortunatley, I never found out what he was going to say because my teacher, Mrs. Mindstrom, was shaking me awake.
"Belle, that´s the third time this week you´ve fallen asleep in class! I´m afraid I´ll have to give you a detention if you don´t quit!" Oops!! Had I fallen asleep, again?? Well, history is the most boring class of the day!
Just then the bell rang for us to change class, so I hopped out of my seat and rushed off to algebra.
I guess I should introduce myself. I´m Arabelle Justine Anderson, Belle for short. I wasn´t the greatest in history, but algebra is my best class. Plus, my current crush, Cody Miller, is in that class too. So, even though we have no other classes together, I can stare at him for 45 minutes of every day. And still keep my A- algebra average. Well, time to stare at Co-I mean, time for class!
I hurried up the steps and got there just as the final bell rang. I swear, they don't give us NEARLY enough time in between classes. Two minutes. Geez! Luckily, there were still some seats in the front left. I took the one on the far left side that had three empty seats next to it. My algebra class is really small, because there wasn't many people who passed pre-algebra last year.I guess I'm lucky, because I beat the passing grade by one point. Yeah, I know, close call, but the only reason I got into pre-algebra is because I used to sit next to the smartest girl in school, Krissy Thomas.
The teacher wasn´t there yet, so everyone was goofing around. I was talking with Tia Hoffman, the girl sitting behind me, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I slowly turned around, thinking I was in more trouble.
An adorably round face with bright blue eyes stared back at me.
"Is anyone sitting here?" Cody Miller asked me. I thought I might faint!! But I did manage to say no.
He smiled again. That´s when the teacher came in the door. I quickly sat in my seat. About halfway through the lesson (something about division of fraction without knowing the second fraction? ugh!), Cody passed me a note. I opened it carefully when Mr. McClain had his back turned. It read "Are you going to the dance this weekend?? Don´t write back, but if so, I´d love to dance with you." Yes!! Cody Miller wanted to dance with me!!
I turned and found him smiling at me. I nodded. He mouthed the word OK and went back to taking notes. I couldn't believe it! This was all my dream coming true. The speaker came on just then.
"Cody Miller, to the office. Cody Miller, to the office!" said the voice of Ms. Winslow. Everyone except me went
"Ooooooooooo!" The class said. I just scribbled my notes madly onto my notebook, hoping he wasn't in BIG trouble. When I looked up he was getting his things. Then he smiled at me and shrugged and left for the office. I spent the last 15 minutes of Algebra chewing my fingernails and checking the clock every 3 seconds. Hurry up!! Time seemed to stand still. Fifteen till. Ten till. Five till. Finally, the bell rang. I picked up my agenda, my Algebra book, and my pink pencil case.
I rushed out the door and down the steps to the office. I bumped into Cody Miller on the way down the steps, sending my books flying. I breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of him. He smiled and helped me pick up my books.
"Thank you so much. I'm so sorry I ran into you!" I said, meaning every word. He shrugged.
"It's fine. My fault, no problem!" he said, followed by one of his smiles. Oh, how I love his smile.
"Well, are you in trouble?" I asked him.
"Nope, I just got my schedule changed. No trouble at all!" He replied. Before I could say anything else, he grabbed my schedule, which was sticking out of my pocket, and began comparing.
"We have first, third, fourth, lunch, eighth and ninth periods together!" He told me. Wow!! That was just about every class. "Good!" he said, surprising me. "Now we have more classes together!" Whoa, he wanted more classes with me. This was awesome!! Like a dream come true. Oh, God, I might just faint.
He waved bye as the bell for the next class rang. I watched him and his beautiful blonde hair until they disappeared down the hall. Then I floated off to Language Arts. I don't even remember the rest of the day. All, I remember was hearing a bell and going to the next class. Cody wouldn't start following his new schedule until tomorrow. Brrrr-ring!! The end of the day bell rings, and I hurry off to my locker. I grab a book, my homework folder, and my agenda, and head off. I have to walk home, because I live within a mile of the school.
I ran all the way home, in through the back door, through the kitchen, up the steps, and into my room. I collapsed on my bed and screamed into a pillow. This was arguably, no, it WAS, the best day of my life! I turned my stereo up as loud as it would go and started jumping up and down on my bed, singing in to my hair brush, content. No, more than content. Blissful!
