We walked back inside. Marcus started calling the info number for a window repairer. I realised I had to go home because I knew what my father was like.

“oii got to go home like now!”

“why? Cant you stay for a bit longer?” please?”

“na I cant I really need to go home”

“damn ok well get ya bag n sketch pad n meet me in da car k?”

“yea ok”

He walked out the front door and I walked an got my bag an sketch pad and walked out to the car and got in.

He started the car and pulled out onto the road.

“where do ya live?”

“12 buttercup drive”

“oh ok”

“yea... I’m sorry bout your window...”

“ itz aight its not your fault... that’s not the first time its happened... itz only cuz I’m black”

I didn’t respond, I couldn’t, no words could describe how bad I felt because I remembered about 3-4 months ago I was with josh when he done it. I remembered laughing about it to.

We drove in silence most of the way then we arrived at my house. It was a huge 2 story house with 9 bedrooms 3 bathrooms an 3 living rooms. I chose a bedroom on the ground so I could sneak out of the house easier . I got out of the car and looked through the window at Marcus. He had a sad an kinda confused look on his face. I knew why. I walked around to his side and kissed him good bye, which made him smile an incredible smile. I walked back around and waved through the window at him an he waved back. I smiled a very fake smile and walked up into my yard and through the front door.

“WHERE THA FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN ALL NIGHT YOU SLUT?!?!” yelled my father.

“i-i-i umm I was at a friend’s house because I fell unconscious at school an he didn’t know where I lived”

“BULL SHIT YOU LYING PIECE OF TRASH”

He grabbed me by my hair and dragged me into my room and repeatedly bashed me until I couldn’t move. He left me there lying on the floor in the middle of my room. I felt like dying or at least lying in Marcus’s arms where it was safe for me. This happened every time I came home late or disobeyed his orders. My father an josh were buddies, and that’s why josh started hitting me because my father said it was ok. I was only fucking 15 and get bashed almost every day and manage to still be the cheerleading captain.

I fell asleep lying there not moving. Then about 20 minutes later I heard light tapping on my window like a bird tapping on it or a tree branch (my window was also a sliding door type window). I slightly opened my sore eyes and looked out the window, it was Marcus . I tried sitting up but I couldn’t I fell back down.

 Marcus saw and realised something bad had happened to me so he picked the lock on the door and ran in trying to be very quiet.

I felt Marcus softly shaking me, then I kinda woke up.

“babe what happened?”

“ughhh ii he-he -he I’m tired”

“ok”

He softly picked me up and put me on my bed and covered me with my blanket. He went over to my proper door and locked it so my mom an dad couldn’t come in, then he walked over to the sliding door an closed it an locked it and pulled the curtain across. He went onto the bed and laid next to me. He softly wrapped his arms around me so I was safe in his arms....
