The Last Case Chapter 23

Other Created on 2-9-08 Views(35) Story Rating G

Police surrounded the bamboo house where frozen body parts of George Parker were dumped into. And another crowd was found at the place where an old couple and their son’s blood was splattered across the whole house. How sick was the cannibal going to get?  The answer: Maybe even worse than what they had thought.
One arm was missing from Jun An, however, along with his whole neck. The bloody message on a wall where the killer had probably engraved was, “HAHA”. But Monstru didn’t feel insulted. He smiled for some strange reason. Maybe he was rather amused by the exclamation. Maybe he wasn’t the murderer. But who could trust him then? He was a big suspect, but in their hearts, they silently screamed the name of their rather bloodthirsty killer: MONSTRU.

Nelson had done his research, and the metal was ready. He sent it to Monstru personally, and wasted another third of fuel. He sent his car to the petrol station, then ate some breakfast. The newspaper screamed, “Murderer of Manhattan: Sicker by the day.” He guessed that that didn’t really matter anymore. The best was on the job. Or was he?
Jack finished his report on the case of a whole cocaine deal he had closed, and saw his boss watching him. “Something cropped up in Manhattan, and the Chief Detective there had told me your affiliation with the case. You were a suspect, and he told me you are off the list, and he told me to give this to you without looking. I haven’t opened it. Alright. Have a bite later.” He left the room hurriedly to give the recipient some privacy. Jack opened the letter, and read the following:
“Dear Jack
Due to the fact my brother’s team had found out my, but not your, affiliation with the case, I would go to Brooklyn as soon as I finish them one by one. Just be patient, and do me a few things just before I go, I’ll pay you back double when I get there. One, clothes. Three black suits, tailored to my size, with one grey one.
Three grey sleeveless tees, three white collared shirts-the type I wear- three pairs of leather shoes, and one pair of combat boots if possible. Plus two ties: black and grey. Make sure none of these require dry-cleaning.
Two, lodging. Buy the cabin in the woods, near a water source, and keep the keys hidden, I will collect them when I get there. Furnish it simply, something to put my clothes in, something to put knives in (get carving, kitchen and butcher knives), and a small rows of hooks plus a shovel. Make sure the place has a basement. Oh, please put a furnace below, I will fuel it myself.
Three, tell Caroline to stop breaking men’s heart. Thanks very much for your help, I look forward to see my brother in his Narcotics department. Sorry, but through a big mix-up, you were sent back to Narcotics, you’ll go back to Homicide in a few years. Love, a very grateful and sorry brother of yours, Ian Dexter Monstru.
PS: I do not assume the name of Dexter; that was the mortal’s birth name. My human (though I had accepted it reluctantly) is Ian. See you soon.”

There was a drop of blood, his brother’s, because it was grey already. A demon’s lifeblood would turn into an ash-colour when it dried. Unless his father had come once more. But he’d go straight to him, wouldn’t he? Even though he didn’t really like the drug dealing department, he was satisfied with Monstru’s reason. That was because it shown that Monstru had tried to get hi back into Homicide. But he still hated the white powder which he had to find every day.

Freddy Allan ate his pathetic excuse of lunch at the table, staring at the ravishing Katie Jones, who could solve Narcotics almost as good as Jack had. He imagined her naked, caressing the length of her whole body, from her neck to her delicate toes. She had exchanged her uniform for a suit, to be in the office, keeping track of the drugs that were illegal. Then, seeing the man drooling over his meal, she walked over. “Oh shit! She caught me salivating at her again. Damn, I wish I had an excuse to get away with it…” “Hey, I know you’re staring at me again.” “Hello, gorgeous, I see you’re pretty lonely today? And the seat’s empty. Here, have my lunch.” “That silly roast chicken wrapped in lettuce? No. After you have drooled all over it, please, it’s like having drugs itself…”
He smiled sheepishly. It wasn’t really nice, but hey! The hottest female on the force was talking to him. “Do you have plans tonight?” “No, I’m totally free… Oh no… Not that house thing again… But why not? I’ll come at 7. You better drive me to work tomorrow if I stay overnight.” And she gave him a wink. A date with a sexy babe? No straight guy could resist.

The sky darkened, and the two were having a great time. “Nine already? Whew, you really blew my boots off anyhow. We’re not supposed to have inter-job romance you know…” “Ah, screw it. Who’d find out?” “Yeah. So, up for some action?” The man felt as if his dream came true. Which reminded him. Where did Monstru go all day? He started to get paranoid. ‘What ifs’ were flying into his head. “I’ll go upstairs to slip on something even more comfortable. You can come in a minute or so.” He counted the seconds, and went up before sixty.
Katie had taken off her bra, only to reveal a pale flat chest, and a muscular build. She took off the scarlet dress she was wearing, and put on a business suit, black in colour, with a grey shirt. The leather shoes where polished, but a bloodstain was seen on it. Katie was still in the station; Monstru made sure that she had work to do. Wanting to get rid of the suspicious and to get a meal, he lied that he would tell Freddy. The skin lain in another corner. “I knew having spare skin for disguise wasn’t a bad idea…” His low voice rumbled softly. He threw it near the bed and made sure the scarlet dress was in his bag. Spraying some blood on it, he climbed up the wall and waited for Allan to walk in.
“Katie?” Freddy was unarmed, and looked around the room. The bag was there. She hadn’t left. He breathed sigh of relief, but when he caught the sight of dead skin, he stood there, shuddering. As he tried to back out of the room, he saw nothing more, just as a monster landed on him from above. Perfect timing and precision. Another successful hunt.
