The Last Case Chapter 17

Other Created on 2-8-08 Views(23) Story Rating G

There was a dead body in front of the zoo, and a stomach in the park. The staff working at the prison of animals gasped and removed the carcass from the entrance before anyone saw it, and for it to be sent for a post-mortem. The serial cannibalistic killer was both powerful and sick: he left behind an organ after each kill, and he could bring down a healthy and strong big cat.  Were there even worse creatures? Yes, of course, there was Freddy Krueger, Hannibal Lecter…

“The same thing. But do we have a pattern or something, to prevent the next murders?” “No. But the next victims must be going somewhere deserted, that’s where the killer strikes. Then he places his mark at a public place. Riverview Park seems the ideal place for a kill.” “Send half a dozen there. I’ll be working in the office.” “Yes, sir.” Apparently, Neither knew the murderer was close, so close, they could have nailed him on the spot. But he had covered his tracks pretty well, and he was listening to every word.

“Come on! You can’t be serious! They still can’t figure it out?” “It seems so. But demons always try to sabotage their host. Don’t tell me the monster likes this body in particular.” “He does.” Draco had appeared. “That is his body. Nothing much changed. I had a human mate, but only that stupid spoilt younger one has his appearance changed completely. I doted more on the yellow-eyed one, not my now deadlier son. Oh well.” “But, if the prophecy is right, that one will bring the angel here. This holy one will be burnt, and given to the Devil to eat and possess someone on Earth, therefore causing havoc. That angel, is pure, no sin on him. I think you should know.” Larry Wings continued smiling, but it looked uneasy. So did his partner, Kelly Owens. A demon talking with them? Quite preposterous!

The flaming gateway opened, and a figure in blood-red stepped out. His onyx eyes… they blazed with hatred, from the very core of his cold, black heart. Draco had come to meet his sons. Madeira had given him the permission to taint the white-washed walks with innocent blood he had been feasting on to drip onto the pavement, to announce his presence. Evening without any holy light splashing onto the pavement… Perfect for an inferno for his pleasure. Just as he was going to step onto a summoning spot, a lady dropped from above, a high-rise building. It was quiet. There were no vehicles around, for the citizens who had heard of the murders were too scared to go out after sunset. “Just what I need… a suicide prick at the perfect dot for hell fire to come.” he swept the slightly alive woman aside, killing her as she hit the pole three metres away.
Monstru was hard at work, doing out diagrams and such for the case. Then, the chief of police came in. “Ian. Your outstanding service has brought you to this position. This is a bonus for you. You are offered a grand to simply take some credit for yourself when you solve this case, and you can be the discipline master at the academy, which offers a much higher pay than the one you have right now. So, what do you say?” “I’ll refuse the grand for credit, but I’ll definitely do as a part-time trainer at the academy, after this case, of course. Jack will be looking after the department, but I’ll round up Sergeant Grey to help.”
“Good, detective. One question. Any leads yet?” “No, unfortunately. Right now, the only clues we have is that he is a cannibal… O-blood type, and is familiar with the police terms… More importantly… he knows my tricks.” “We have many. Get your brother to run through the list of best police academy students and graduates to see who has the same type. Top 20 students, but graduates is simple. You have to find out who has them. After that, you should find more, trace the older jailed people, and get back to me. Oh, and I see you have interviewed one and cancelled his name because he’s vegetarian. Your cousin? Okay. Also cross out the vegetarians.” “Yes, sir.” “Bye, Ian.” They were quite good buddies.
Ian had just closed the door, sure that the lock fit into place, when Patrick ran over to him, his fats bulging. It never ceased to amaze him how such an obese person could run so fast. “A blaze downtown. Fire fighters, even with the best equipment, can’t butt out the flames. It’s a little green, not natural. There are a few suspects. Go!”
The man in red had a same kind of suit as Monstru usually wore. “Ah… I’ve heard of your work, Monstru… Very good at your stuff, eh?” “I don’t know you, but I’m started to get a little creeped out. Who are you? Never seen you in town before.” “Oh… I am Mr Okra. Here on a business trip. This is one weird fire.” He knew Ian would turn around and ask a few questions; that was as before, and shall ever be.
He was wrong. “Sir, please come with me to the station. I need a lie detector, and a person to stop me from becoming way too violent to answers.” Everything had to take a slight change, but it would be easy to role-play. “Sir, just before you go, the fire seemed to have been started by this- a cigarette of some kind. I’ll get forensics to check out which brand, and get back to you. Oh, by the way, Miss Parker said she got over  the whole severing incident, and that she wants to be your wife again.” “Tell her she can go grow another panther which was as rough as the one that was killed, full sized, to the zoo. Then, I’ll marry her.” A smirk ran across the lips of the listening one, then the officer added, “And tell her to suck a whole watermelon dry too?” “Yeah.” Ian smiled rather maliciously too.
Perhaps it was time for a nice conversation after the whole interview, because the Chief Detective was quite attracted to the man. Which reminded him, he needed to transfer to the Brooklyn force; they needed one with his skills badly.
