the stone story
|
I received a new piece of petrified wood, a lovely but humble piece measuring only a few inches long and an inch or so in diameter. I immediately loved its feel and look. Then I went into meditation as I always do upon receiving new stones. It felt so good and solid, yet gentle, in my hands as I held it while inducing a meditative state:
I breathe deeply to cleanse my energy bodies and ground Spirit in my body, then slowly and more slowly release, will my body to relax and soften, especially the area at the back of my neck, and breathe rhythmically for a few minutes...no effort. This is my entry way into the inner planes whether working with minerals, masters, angels, guides, humans, plants or animals.
From this still place, I open myself to receive information about the stone in my hand. I feel it physically but go beyond that into the energy body/aura of the stone...and it is in that realm that I begin to understand--see, hear and sense--its special gifts. The tone I hear is higher than I expected...I expect a stone with such earthy qualities to emit a deeper and lower tone. I love being surprised by inner communications! After resonating with its tone, I sense its surprisingly gentle qualities. Like a branch wafting in the wind, a branch and definitely not the rootedness of a tree trunk. I feel the wind as well as the earth element in this piece. And I feel the wind beneath me, as I merge with this piece of petrified wood. I journey for awhile in the merging...
I tune into the stone's healing quality -- I always seek this information as I use the stones in my healing work. And this comes to me: the healing qualities of this stone increase and amplify flexibility within a person, still speaking to solidity and stability of earth element yet with great openness to the changing winds. I recognize that these are qualities each of us require at times. So, that is how I use this special piece -- for myself when I need to ground yet be flexible, when I feel shifts occurring and discover I am holding on to a vision that has become stale. . . I lay with other earth element stones on my chakras and key points, and a crystal point grid all around. And there in the palm of one of my hands I hold the petrified wood stone which has shared with me it's deep healing mysteries, and I experience the wind beneath my wings, the sap as it flows vigorously through my limbs, and my mind shifts into a fluid place where it makes the necessary shifts in consciousness -- more open, strong, grounded yet flexible, malleable. Then Spirit takes over, and cocreates with Nature a new place in me - of growth and expansion - as I marvel at the privilege of my ever-widening and deepening communications with the Beyond of so-called "normal" reality.
Days later, while holding my new petrified wood friend again, I pulled out a looking glass a dear friend had recently given me. And then comes the S U R P R I S E ! There at the polished end, previously gone undetected was a little being. I looked and looked and started laughing with great joy...for there, inside, so obvious and extroverted, was a shaman being -- the essence of this particular stone--smiling with wide eyes, rather large nose, and a smile like a coyote full of kindly mischief! He extends his right hand and arm out to me and in his left he holds a dowsing stick. Utterly amazing! Most stone allies are quite shy and prefer to stay hidden deep within a stone and only reveal themselves when respectfully sought. But this guy -- he revels in showing himself off. And I am once again, continually, blessed by the mineral kingdom which has chosen me as one of its companions.
Can you see my friend here? Look to top right the for top of his head. Then the whites of his bright eyes appear, a rather largish nose, and small mouth. Can you see the dowsing stick he holds in his left hand?
The process of tuning into stones is so strikingly simple and natural. I encourage each of you reading this to try for yourself. It takes a bit of practice, yes, but every ounce of effort pays off.
