Chapter 4 A Wedding to be Remembered

In The Eyes of Lorraine

I was furious with Valerie for bewitching me. She was wrong, he had given me every thing a girl could ever want. My room had stair cases in it that ran up the wall to sections cut out with books, jewelry, and maids that did every thing for me. I lost interest in Stefan and I was to marry Damon in a few days. There was this beautiful black and red dress, I was use to the customs of a white dress, but they told me that that was how they did it there.

We ate together at every meal. Breakfast was served with a selection of the finest eggs and meat with fresh juice and milk. Lunch was always served on the balcony, we mostly had vegetables from the garden and the purest meats, it was a lot better than the food Luna made. Supper was the best of all because there was an orchestra and usually guest. Everything was so perfect that I was finally happy that I became an immortal.

It was late, and Damon had to stay locked in his room because it bright. That gave me the freedom to explore the castle. I was walking around on the marble floors watching the stone walls and the marble doors when I came a cross a black door, it was dark and unlike the others. I tried to open it, but it was locked, I lost interest and went back into my room after all it did have everything I could ever want.

“Miss Baxter! It’s time for dinner, the master is excepting you.” a maid called from outside my door.

“Be there in a minute.” I called back.

There was a dress waiting on the bed that had a note written on it. It said that I was to where it to dinner that night. I got dressed and headed out to the dining hall when I arrived there was no music and no guests.

“Damon, what happened to the music and guest?” I asked as I sat down beside him.

“I decided that it should be just you and I tonight.” he said sweetly.

“Oh, well that’s wonderful, I never get to see you.”

“Yes, that it sad.”

“As you know we will be getting married tomorrow.”

“Yes, I have been anticipating the moment.”

“Good, so your not scared?”

“Well I’m fifteen years old, of course I am.”

“Oh, well I guess the mortal customs are to wait until you are older.”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

“Well if you don’t want to go through with this, it’s fine.”

“Oh, I do, but it is just weird.”

“Well if it helps, I’m sixteen.”

“No it doesn’t.”

“Just think in twenty four hours, you will be the queen of Brosht.”

“Now that helps.”

“I thought it would” he said as he grabbed my hand.

“What about Stefan?”

“You don‘t need Stefan!” he said as he gripped my hand tighter and tighter.

“Stop! Your hurting me.” I said as I tried to get away, but he jerked me back.

“No Lorraine your hurting me.” he said softly.

He looked into my eyes glaring as hard as he could. I suddenly lost all of my strength and fell on the floor, everything blacked out. I woke up on my bed with Damon sitting by my side.

“W-What happened.”

“You ate some bad food and passed out.” he said sweetly.

“I mean with the shouting and screaming before I blacked out.”

“I’m sorry, you must have been dreaming, I don’t remember anything.”

“But it all seemed so real.”

“That does happen when you eat charred meat.” with that he walked away. I knew something was up when he said charred meat, because Luna always made her food like that. How did he know that? Why did he lie about the food?

Questions where swarming in my head like flies as Damon left the dining hall. “Why did I black out? Why did my arm hurt? Why had he been acting so suspicious? Was he telling the truth when he said I would be queen? Would my former friends be at my wedding? Why are all these thoughts being pulled towards Damon?”, where some of the questions that where running through. I was dizzy and I could hardly stand. I tried to fly, but I was to weak to lift. I tried to shape shift, but every time I turned I would turn back. My powers where fading, but I decided that in a day I would become queen of Brosht and that was all that mattered.

The next day Mrs. Fennywigg helped me into my long flowing wedding dress. It was red and black, unusual for weddings, but that didn’t really cross my mind because I was about to get married at fifteen. Fifteen? Fifteen? I wasn’t ready for this, how could I get married at fifteen? I had just become a teenager two years ago and now I was getting married? How could this happen. Mrs. Fennywigg said that I was getting cold feet. I looked up at her, and she said that she was lying.

“What do you mean, Mrs. Fennywigg?” I asked nervously.

“I mean,” she paused for a second and sighed ”Damon has a way of making people do what they don’t want to do.”

“Huh?”

“He cursed you to make you think that you wanted to marry him so he could drain your powers.”

“No, that can’t be true. He would never do something like that to me.”

“Yes he would. He did it to me and three other wives. Without our powers and life, he would shrivel up and die. Immortals stay the same age forever because of the powers.”

“So you mean that without my powers he wouldn’t exist.”

“Exactly”

“Oh my gosh.”

“Yes, and your friends will be coming tonight to save you.”

“In the wedding?”

“Yes, but we must keep it to ourselves, you never know who to trust in this castle any more.”

“So what do I do.”

“When the ceremony begins and the words ‘for thou hast chosen a bride thou art crowned his majesty king of Brosht’ are spoken they will run in and the one who has your heart will stop the ceremony and you will get out as fast as you can.”

“Ok, I can do this.” I lied.

“Yes, you can, I believe in you Amy.” She said with a calm voice.

“Wait you said that he married you ,but you’re…….”

“Older. Yes I know. This is what happens when Damon drains your powers, you age. If it wasn’t for that I would be seventeen right now. He’s already started on you.”

“I thought that was stress from dealing with my friends.”

“Know he drained your powers as soon as you started trusting him.”

“Oh. What about when I blacked out.”

She chuckled softly and said, ”You had better get ready now, Amy.”

I was in my dress and Mrs. Fennywigg had made my hair into a rose like bun on the back of my head, it was beautiful. I looked like I was eighteen years old, but I was only fifteen, he was draining me slowly. I stepped out of my room when I heard the dusty organ playing, it was time to do the hardest thing I could do, pretend to marry someone that was killing me to live eternally.

The doors where opened and Damon was standing on the other side of the long room. As I walked past a vase of dead roses, they stood up. Evil was here in this very room. Damon chuckled under his breath as I stepped up to the table. I was accustomed

to a priest at weddings, but from the looks of him, this was no priest.

“Prince Damon, do you take Amy Baxter as your wife and queen.” the man said.

“I do.”

“Amy Baxter, do you take Prince Damon as your husband and make him king of Brosht.”

“I-I-I-I.”

In The Eyes Of Valerie

“Come on Valerie, you can do it.” I said under my breath as we crouched behind the doors.

“I-I-I-” she said nervously.

“Come on, Val.” I said a softly.

“I do.” she said after hearing my voice.

I looked over at Stefan, a tear was streamed down his cheek.

“It’ll be all right, Stefan. We will get her out of there.”

“I know, but I can’t let her go through with this.”

“In a few minutes we can run in there, and you get her away from that monster.”

“Ok.” he whimpered, “please don’t tell anyone I cried.”

“All right.”

“Everybody get ready.” Luna whispered.

He spoke the words ”for thou hast chosen a bride thou art crowned his majesty king of Brosht” and we ran in. Aidan’s steps where so strong that the crown was knocked out of the man’s hand.

In The Eyes Of Scott

“Amy! You are married to me now, you can‘t ever leave this castle.” Damon screamed as Lorraine ran down the corridor holding her dress up so she wouldn’t slip.

She stopped and turned towards Damon and said the words that I’ll remember for ever. ”You see, Damon. I got married with the name Amy Baxter, but my name is Lorraine. I can leave.”

“What!?” he screamed.

“You heard her, Damon. You aren’t king of Brosht.” Valerie.

“We’ll see about that!” he yelled out as he thrust his arms up into the air.

“Castro de Combo Dium Delicore!” he shot out. I realized it was a spell, when Valerie flung backwards into his arms. She didn‘t resist him because she couldn‘t move. He slung a knife out to her neck like you see in the movies when the bad guys get a hold of a girl.

“I’ll do it!” he said pushing it to her neck.

“NO! get out of hear while you still can! I’ll be all right!” She said softly while she could still talk.

I ran after her hoping to get there before he hurt her, but I wasn‘t fast enough, he pushed her down, the knife sliding down her neck

“NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!” I screamed as I fell down on her.

“Wake up, Valerie!” I cried she lay there silent not moving. She was dead.

“You monster! How could you do that?” I screamed as tears streamed down my cheeks.

“Wake up, Valerie!” I cried, she lay there not moving. She was dead.

“It might help that I have no soul.” he cocked his head.

“You see, Lorraine, this is what happens to people who don’t listen, they die as prisoners.

The others started running. I could have gone with them, but I decided that I wouldn’t leave Valerie alone with that demon.

“As for you two… the dungeon.”

We where taken away by two guards, put into the dungeon like dogs. They try to drag Valerie, but I carried her there the rest of the way. The dungeon was dark and musty. It reminded me a the ship coming hear, except a lot more gloomy and dry. I looked over at Valerie laying there with lifeless, breathless. The joy had faded out of her eyes and her skin was as pale as snow. I hated to look at her.

The next day the guard gave my a stale roll and a cup of water. I took a sip of the water when I heard a voice inside my head say ”give Valerie some”. It was strange, but I put the cup to her mouth and gave her some.

She gasped and coughed for a moment and said ”I thought you’d never give me something, geez!”

“Valerie!” I screamed hugging her as tight as I could.

“Scott, Scott, Scott! I can’t breathe!” she said hoarsely.

“I thought you where dead.”

“I did to until I had a big lump of person fall on me then I realized that, no I was still alive.”

“Sorry. So what happened?”

“When Damon put that spell on me, it made it where I couldn’t move or talk, but I did say something which means that Damon is weak.”

“But what about the whole dead thing.”

“I’m immortal unless I lose my powers.”

“Oh, well that must have been painful.”

“It was especially since a certain my reading person didn’t try to communicate to see if I was alive.”

“Oh! Well, why didn’t you communicate with me.”

“I was weak from the spell, when Damon’s powers finally faded I asked for some water. A spell like that is run on evil, but since you pretty much did it on your on without much persuading, you contradicted it.”

“How?”

“I don’t know. What’s the opposite of evil?

“Good?”

“No, it has to be bigger than that to break a curse.”

“Yeah I guess.”

We where in the dungeon for days. Mrs. Fennywigg brought us food and water every meal. She would tell us a secret message every say at 12:01. It was usually a riddle that we would solve that would get us closer to figuring out how Damon’s curses are contradicted. Today she gave us a riddle that said “with the contradict to Damon’s spell just go touch the bars and you’ll be well”.

“What bars? What is the contradict?” Valerie said.

“I don’t know. Maybe it means these bars.” I said pointing to the bars holding us in.

I grabbed them and shot back towards the wall.

“That’s not it.” Valerie said.

“Well, that’s the only bars in here we just need to know the contradict. What’s the opposite of evil?”

“Good?”

“No, it wasn’t good when I grabbed you on the floor. It wasn’t good when I gave you that water. I gave you the water because you told me to.”

“Yeah, but why did you grab me? It weekend the curse, but you must not have been totally in it or I would have been fully conscious. “

“I don’t know, but we need to get out of here.”

“Yeah, ok if we both push as hard as we can, maybe the gate will fall.”

“There is a spell around it; we can’t come out.”

“Well let me try.”

At that Valerie took a deep breathe and raised her hands. She closed her eyes and said “open”. The gates flung open and we where free at least it seemed that way. We would have to go through more of Damon’s traps to see our friends again. We had been trapped in the cave so long, Val had lost it. When I say lost it, I mean lost it. She was back to normal when we got out. I guess the knock out spell left her loony because that wasn’t the Val we came to know and love. We started running down the hall when we heard footsteps coming towards us. As the steps got closer, our hearts pounded harder. We jumped behind the gray stone wall and caught our breath. The candles on the wall revealed the silhouette of a woman. It was Mrs. Fennywigg. Valerie’s sneeze caught the maid’s attention and she whipped her head around.

What are you two doing here?” she whispered.

“Umm Umm nothing.” Valerie said.

“I have been trying to get you out of here every chance I get”

“We thought it was a trick after we hit that wall”

“That was my way of telling you that his majesty has put traps all in the castle”

“Oh, my bad.”

“Get out of here as fast as you can, Damon is going to the dungeon right now.”

“Bye, thanks for all your help.” I said as we ran down the corridor.

Two of Damon’s guards where charsing us with their jagged edged swords. As Valerie was running, she turned around and saw the sword. It pierced her stomach but didn’t slow her down (after all she was an immortal). I was almost out of breath, but I couldn’t stop running. I needed to get out of there.
