Nasaya ran to her room and slammed it shut. The vase next to the door rattled and crashed to the floor. Xian Tian poked his head out into the hall. He looked at the broken vase and back up to Jiro’s angered face.
“Remind me never to get her mad.” Xian Tian said and quickly went back into his room.
“So where are we going?” Nasaya asked. Her and Cai were now in his car, driving alongside the ocean road. It was a perfect night. The star hung bright across the darkness above her.
“You’ll see,”
“You’re not going to tell me?”
“Nope,” he gave her a cocky smile.
“I see how it is,” Nasaya opened the window. She felt the cool ocean breeze against her face.
“So what happened earlier?” Cai asked. “I heard something shatter.”
“ Jiro happened.” Nasaya leered. “We got into a fight.” She chuckled to herself. “ It’s so fun pissing him off.” She gave a malicious smile.
“You guys were yelling? At each other? Are you sure?”
“What do you mean ‘am I sure?’ When doesn’t he?”
“Never.” Cai simply replied. Nasaya couldn’t believe her ears.
“Never? Are you kidding me?” she said, her voice exasperated. “He’s grumpy all the time and is always pissy.” Cai raised an eyebrow at her.
“He never raises his voice at anyone. Sure he gets mad often but he never talks back. Jiro, you could say is a perfect gentleman. He knows how to hold his tongue.” Cai pointed out. Nasaya laughed. Gentleman her left butt check. “Enough about him, here we are.” Cai stopped the car and turned off the engine.
“Where are we.” She peered through her still open window.
They were at the beach. Cai made his way to the other side of the car and opened Nasaya’s door for her. Nasaya stepped out and inhaled the salty air. Cai took hold of her hand and they walked towards the shore. The soft sand sunk in between her toes. She looked at Cai who had big grin on his face. He looked so handsome tonight.
“Over there,“ Cai pointed in the direction of the sea. There was a flame in the distance. They walked closer and a small bonfire came into view. Next to it was a blanket filled with food.
“How about a late night picnic?” Cai picked her up bridal style and laid her on the blanket. The monster inside Nasaya chest began to jump for joy. Cai handed her barbeque folded under a piece of cloth. Nasaya took a bite and felt like she was in bliss. The food was delicious.
“This is so good!” Nasaya gobbled down her chicken kabob, cleaning her skewer. “Who made this?”
“You like it?” Nasaya nodded and grabbed another one. “I did.”
“You did?” Nasaya was shocked. It tasted like a cook prepared this food. Considering how Cai was rich, she expected no less. Money wasn’t an object to him.
“Yeah,” Cai smiled as he looked at Nasaya barbeque covered face. She then remembered what her uncle told her.
“You’re a cook huh?” Nasaya said in between bites.
“Sure am.” he said proudly. Nasaya stopped eating and wiped her face with a napkin. She put down the skewers and faced Cai.
“Is that what you want to be, a cook?”
“Yup, a chef just like my father.” Nasaya could see the mirthful smile in his face. Nasaya couldn’t help but frown.
“But say you were to marry me in the end…” her voice trailed off. She didn’t think she had to say this, well this early in the relationship anyways. “…wouldn’t you have to take over Satari Corp?” Cai nodded. “And if you were to that, that’s a full time job. You wouldn’t have time to be chef…”
“I never thought that far into the future. But even so…” he placed his hand over Nasaya‘s. “I would give up my dream to be with you.” Nasaya fell silent. Cai stared meaningfully into her eyes. Without planning it, without even thinking about it, without hesitation, Nasaya kissed him. She didn’t what was going on her mind. Her body took control. Cai kissed her back. A sweet, long kiss. Fireworks burst into the sky. Startled, she ripped her lips from his and looked up into the sky. Fireworks in the shapes of multicolored stars lit up the night
“What the-?” She looked at Cai, a question look on her face.
“Surprise.” he grinned. He pulled Nasaya to her feet. “Let’s dance.” Nasaya, stupefied at first, took Cai hand. He led her into an enchanted. Her feet were light and her hair swayed gracefully behind her. They danced until the fireworks disappeared and the morning star shone over the horizon.
