    When I woke up I was in a unfamiliar white room. There was this annoying beeping sound that was driving me insane. I realized that I was in a hospital room, in a hospital bed, and lying in one of the horrible hospital gowns. Eww I'm in a hospital, I thought. Wait Nick rode to the hospital with me.

     I turned my head to the side hoping Nick was sitting there, but to my worst nightmare my mother was sitting there, with a very annoyed look on her face.

     "You know if there was a dumbass award, you would win it, girl." She said to me. Of all the FUCKING people that could be sitting there it had to be HER, my mind asked. I would have rather seen a nurse that worked here, then to see her.

      "What are you doing here, Janet?" I asked her. She glared at me when I said her name instead of saying, "mother", like she wanted me to call her. I couldn't call Janet, "mom" because for you to be a mother you have to actually give a rat's ass about your kids. Janet didn't give a damn about Joey, or me.

     In fact, she didn't even care about my dad. She had an affair with some guy she met in a bar, and had Joey. My dad was so heartbroken when he found out that Joey wasn't his, but he still loved and cared for Joey as if he was his own. I was in all honesty more of a mom to Joey, then Janet was.

    "The only reason I'm here is to pay your damn hospital bill, and the fact that I wanted to make sure your ass wasn't dead," She explained to me.

     "Oh know you give a damn about me?" I asked in fake surprise, "Well there's a first time for everything, I guess."

      "You really are a smart ass aren't ya?" She asked with an amused look on her face. I glared at her, and she glared back at me. We stared at eachother for what seem like forever until the doctor came in to check on me. The doctor said I could probably leave later today, or tomorrow. When the doctor left Janet looked back at me.

      "I'm gonna go finish paying for your bill, ok Ren?" She asked me using the nickname she gave when I was little.

      "Yeah, Ok Janet," I responded. She gave me another glare before heading towards the door. Before she left she turned around to look at me once more.

      "God, you are like a spitting image of me when I was your age. You take good care of Joey for me, and also say, "Hi", to Alex for me," She said with a smirk then left.

      I grabbed the pillow from behind my head, and screamed profanities into it. I pulled the pillow away from face after I was done with my screaming fit. I wonder if you can ban certain visitors, I thought. I layed my head back on the pillow. I was about to fall back asleep when there was a knock on my door.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to get this chapter up, but I was having severe writers block. Well with this chapter I wanted to take the story away from Serenity and Nick. I wanted to focus on Serenity's background a little. So I hope you enjoy this chapter. ~Brittany~
