Proluge
Everything happens for a reason. The loss of a friend can lead to the beginning of a new friend. In a small suburban town during summer break , on girl will learn that the hard way.
Chapter One
The sweet smell of sweet pea filled the air. Cherry Blossoms smiled at passing birds…The day began as any step ford day would start. But this isn’t a step ford story is it? Down about three miles from this joyful scene, a rebellious teenager was sulking her misery away in her locked room. Her speakers blared and her mother cried for her to turn it down, but will she listen? I think not. She only turns it louder. You see, Venus, that’s the girls name, has only one mission, to see to it that everyone else leads a miserable life. Just as she does.
The Next door neighbor moved just a week ago, and the new neighbors were just moving in. Venus will forever hate the newbie’s. Her best friend, Rodney, used to live there. He was the only one who understood her dark sense of humor. His family was forced to move because they couldn’t afford to keep the house. Venus tried to get her mother to adopt Rodney, but it was “out of the question”. Venus felt as if the new neighbors had forced Rodney away and for that, she will forever hate them. Of course things had been rough with her and her mother. Put it this way, they barely speak. I guess that’s how life goes. We feel so dead, but we’re still alive. Sorta?
Venus stomped in her army boots along side of her mother who was the image of perfect. While she was the daughter that all parents feared. She had dark brown hair and wore an over amount of eyeliner and mascara. No color in her wardrobe, besides black and red. Venus took pride in her individuality. Venus and her mother were off to greet the new neighbors with a fresh batch of brownies.
Her mom knocked on the door. Venus sighed. She new that who ever these people were, they would never compare to Rodney. The door swung open. A cheerful woman answered the door. She smiled looking down on us.
“Welcome to the neighborhood.” mother said briefly.
“Why thank you,” the woman replied,” My names Deloris,”
“Well I’m Marge and this is my daughter Venus” Mom replied looking down at her. Deloris looked down at Venus, who angrily sneered back at her.
“Oh were are my manners, please come inside so we don’t get a cold.” Deloris rushed as she pushed them in.
“How can we catch a cold if it’s 90 degrees out side?” Venus whispered to her mother, who gave her a nasty look.
Venus and Marge stood in a house that looked as if it were a castle. Stain glass windows and a spiral staircase. Venus recognized everything in the house from when Rodney lived there. Everything was the same except the people are different and the gratified walls had been painted over.
