For the next three days I stayed with my friend Jess at her house. It was relieving to have someone to calm me down and to just listen to what I had to say. For once in my life, I felt like someone cared. The next day I went back home. I brought my stuff right up to my room, and never looked back. My dad came upstairs to try and talk to me, but I refused. When he came into my room, I threw a football at him. He yelled back, but I couldn’t hear him. I had my earphones in for a reason. I started to get tired, so I turned off my light and began to doze off.
School the next morning became hell. I became involved in so much drama. These girls started to talk behind my friend Emma’s back. They told her boyfriend Dustin some things which made him break up with Emma. I was through sitting back and doing nothing about it. They were hurting my friend. I wasn’t going to let it go. I started yelling and screaming at them. The argument grew intense. After it was done and over with, Emma came over to me and asked me why I ruined my friendship with those girls just to stick up for her. I told her that I wasn’t going to let them her. What they were doing was immature and wrong. Nobody deserved to be put through that, especially her. After the school day was over, I went home and went online. My ex-friend Jocelyn was online. She IMed me, calling me so many different words I couldn’t even count. So I told her to
“Shut up you fat fuck!” She then told me she was showing her mom the IM. The next thing I know, her mom is calling my house. She asks for my parents, and I tell her they’re not home. So she called back almost twice an hour. Every time she called, I told her my parents weren’t home. I was so afraid of what my dad would do.
The next day at school there were more rumors going around. I learned to ignore them, even though what they were saying hurt. It hurt a lot. I got home, to find my dad home, which was quite unusual, seeing that he doesn’t come home from work until six o’clock. I walked in the door to find my dad with me and Jocelyn’s conversation in his hand. He starts screaming. I start crying. I told him what has been going on. He doesn’t believe me. He told me Jocelyn’s mom was thinking of pressing charges and getting the police involved. After that, I went upstairs to my room and called Emma. “Emma, my dad told me Jocelyn’s mom is thinking of pressing charges against me. My dad deleted the AIM off the computer and told me I’m never allowed to use it again. He put parental controls on the computer. I’m grounded from doing anything now. I just snuck on the phone because I needed to talk to you. You needed to know what was going on. I don’t know what to do anymore,” I cried. I could barely get words out of my mouth. “Kaden, you’ll be fine. I promise. They can’t do anything more than that. I have to go…I’ll see you at school tomorrow?” she asked. “Yeah, I’ll be there,” I told her.
The next morning my dad continued his rampage, yelling at me every time he saw me. I was extremely quiet in school. Just being there made me feel more vulnerable. I just couldn’t deal with the things going on in my life…
