Innocence Interrupted 6..
|
We hopped outta the car and started towards a huge ramp all the guys were standing at. So, after the mall incident, I was completely mortified, and I was about to be embarrassed to an even fuller extent skating. Why?! Why me?! Any way, once we got to where they where Trax, Quinton, and The Loud blonde were standing, they handed us ratty, worn skating shoes.
I just stared at them, not daring to let them go near any exposed part on me.
“Those,” Amber said, crumpling her nose, “are disgusting. They actually let u borrow shoes??” She glanced at me.
I held up my hands “Don’t look at me. This was all your idea.”
I crossed my arms, and looked up at Quinton, who was holding the shoes out to me.
He smiled. “Come on, Taw, have a little fun.” I looked towards the blonde who was holding the shoes for Amber, and he looked annoyed. I glanced at Trax, but he was watching the rest of the people skate, holding a board under his arm.
I sighed and grabbed the most likely diseased shoes. Amber widened her eyes towards me, but I ignored her. She’s the one who told me to loosen up. Her turn. I sat on the ground, slipped off my shoes, and while barely touching them, put the other ones on. Soon after amber followed my lead.
“Can you skate in a skirt?” She asked prettily.
Quinton smirked. “You can skate in anything you want.”
Amber said “Anything???” Oh, my gawd.
“Anything.” Quinton replied. They were staring at each other now, and it was way awkward.
“I’m out.” Blondie said, and rolled away on his own board. I rolled my eyes, and turned away, checking out the stunts different people were doing. Some of these people were REALLY good. I wonder if Trax can do any of that. I felt someone grab my elbow, and turned quickly, startled.
“Sorry.” Trax said, backing up a step. “Didn’t mean to scare you.”
“It’s okay.” I mumbled. I was shuffling my feet, and avoiding eye contact with him.
“So, ready to skate?” He asked.
“Uh, not really.” I replied, and actually looked up at him.
“Come on, we’ll go get you a board while Amber and Quinton get acquainted.” I glanced behind him and saw they were flirting like crazy, Amber giggling, and Quinton stepping closer every second.
“Sure.” I said, and starting walking beside Trax as he made his way toward the skate building. A couple times along the way, he brushed my arm with his, on accident, I’m not sure. What I am sure of though, is that every time it happened, tingles would stay in the exact spot until I’d brush them away. I am SO pitiful.
Trax found a decent skateboard, and all the safety supplies and paid for it. The only time I talked was when I insisted on paying for the rentals, but he refused to let me.
We walked outside, and he led me to a ramp.
“No way.” I said, backing away. “I am NOT going down that thing.”
Trax turned around, and knitted his eyebrows. “Why not?”
I turned red, and stared at the skateboard in my hands.
“Well, me and Amber have only skateboarded once, and that time we had bruises for two weeks.” I said, and looked up, squinting towards Trax since the sun was in my eyes.
“Well, we’ll start on something smaller.” He replied, smiling a bit.
“I’ll teach you.”
“Are you good?” I asked. I was actually opening up again.
We started towards a smaller, and much less intimidating ramp.
“I’ve been doing it since I was a baby. I plan on going pro.” He replied, and I glanced up at him surprised.
“Your that good?” I said.
He laughed and looked down at me. “Yea, I guess. But getting that good wasn’t easy, and I’ve got the scars to prove it.”
I laughed, and turned shy again, going silent.
“Alright.” Trax said with that amazing voice of his. “Can you stand on a skateboard? Without falling, I mean.”
I crossed my arms, and switched feet. “Well, not really.”
“Ok. Let’s start with that. Stand on the skateboard.”
“But I’ll fall!” I said.
“I won’t let you fall.” I said down to me. I stared at him, debating whether I should trust him or not.
I decided on it, and started to step on the skateboard. My other foot followed suit and about fell right out from under the board. But luckily, keeping to his word, Trax kept his word, and caught me by the waist. I latched on to his forearm, and was breathing hard, still scared from my almost fall.
I heard Trax stifle a laugh and looked up. “That is not funny.” I said, and he didn’t stifle his laugh anymore, just let it out. I couldn’t help but smile, and laugh with him.
“Okay, enough. I feel like a big enough dork as it is.” I said. He still had a hold of my waist and I had a hold of his arms.
“Are you okay?” He asked sincerely.
“Yea, I’m fine.” Was my breathless reply. Not because of almost falling, but because of the sincerity that escaped from Trax. He let go, to my chagrin, and we proceded in the lesson. Soon enough, I was able to get balance enough to stand on the board myself.
When I finally did it, I smiled wide up at Trax, proud of myself, and he grinned back.
“Next lesson.” He said, getting serious again. “You will learn how to move on a skateboard.”
“Okayy…” I said. He taught me how roll, and I only fell about 15 times, me and him bursting into hysterics every time. We Didn’t talk much, except when he was telling me what to do.
When I saw Amber and Quinton skating, I started to wonder what time it was.
“Uh, Trax, do you know what time it is?”
He checked his watch and told me it was 5:30. Dang, we’d been here for an hour and a half.
I took off my safety gear, helmet, and nasty shoes, and retrieved my other ones. Trax took my board and returned it. We met up outside the store after he had stored his own thing in his locker.
“Uh..Thanks for being so patient with me.” I said, as we walked towards where Amber was.
I looked up at him.
“It was fun, teaching you. And you never gave up. You did good for a girl.”
I stopped dead in my tracks and stared up at his grinning face.
“Excuse me?!” I really was thoroughly pissed at that last comment. He saw that I was really getting mad, and reached out to touch my arm. “Hey, Taw, I was just kidding.” He said, getting serious.
I sighed and hung my head, and continued walking, not wanting to look at Trax. Ever since I almost got raped, I’ve had a thing with guys thinking they’re more superior and tougher than girls.
He grabbed my arm, and I turned toward him. “I really was just joking, I didn’t mean to piss you off.” Trax said, and as I looked into his eyes, saw that they were troubled.
“No, it’s not you. I just, have a thing with guys thinking they’re better than girls.”
He frowned. “Not all guys.”
“I know. Just most.” I replied.
“Do you know most guys?” He asked.
“No, “ I replied, getting angry again. “But all the ones I’ve met do.”
“So are you saying me and Quinton think we’re better than girls?” He asked, and now he looked like he was the peeved one. I looked away.
“Well, no, but I barely know you guys.” I argued.
“Then don’t assume MOST guys are like that.” He said, sparks in his eyes. He walked away, leaving me alone, feeling horrible for taking a past experience of mine out on him.
I strode over to Amber, who was sitting on Quinton’s lap, and told her we had to go.
“Okay, Okay.” She said, and after her good-byes with Quinton, we left.
I was exceptionally quiet on my way home, and I guess Amber knew something was bugging me, because she kept asking what was wrong, and I would persistently tell her nothing. She knew me too well to believe me, though. After she dropped me off at home, I talked to Hawlin for about a half an hour before going to bed. Although, I didn’t sleep much due to my mind constantly going back to Trax. I’m not sure if we would even see each other again, but I knew if I did, hr probably wouldn’t acknowledge my existence. I’d screwed it up with one of the very few people I’d ever like AGAIN. I give up.

keep me posted!!
