I don’t know exactly what made my parents relationship go on the brink at first, but I’m positive about the ending of it. My father having an affair. Now, the anger came. I pictured his face in my mind, and then quickly threw it out with a hiss, Never again did I want to see that disloyal lying cheat! Even if he was my flesh and blood.
Rolling over on my stomach, I finally decided to attempt to get some sleep on the hardwood floor. At least Garen had brought up a butt load of comforters and pillows, but it still didn’t stop me from feeling the hardness of the floor. Tomorrow, I decided, I was definitely buying a bed. The bad thing was, I was going to have to spend the emergency money my mother had insisted I bring. At the time, I had tried to deny it, but my mother being a worry wart, she forced me to. Promising myself to thank my mother nest time I speak to her, I finally forced myself to drift off into the void pit of sleep.
I woke up groaning at the ache that had formed in my back. Sleeping on the floor was horrid. The only other time I had slept on the floor, was when I had stayed at Brody’s and had lost the game of rock, paper, scissors, shoot, meaning, Brody got the bed. Every other time, though, I won. Brody always thought I had cheated somehow, but come on, how can you? This one memory started a whole new bunch of images of me and Brody in my mind. Me and Brody when we were 10, shaving the neighbors cat. Me and Brody at 12, jumping from the huge rock into the lake. And definitely the best, when me and Brody were 15, he convinced me to skip our one and only day of school. The best day ever, I had to say.
After managing to escape, we ran as far and fast as we could to the creek below the school, out of site from the school. The whole rainy day, we sat on the bridge, dangling our feet into the icy cold slow of water. Listening to the trickling of water at times, and other times talking about nothingness, and laughing loud, then trying to muffle it in fear of getting caught. Then, when it was time for the buses to pick the students up, we snuck back, merging into the crowd, getting on the big yellow bus, and going home. Still to this day, two years later, nobody but me and Brody are aware of that wonderful day. At the time, I hadn’t realized I was in love with him, and how priceless that day was, but now it’s worth more than anything in this world.
A heartbreaking throb, threatening to cause me physical pain overcame me at his face, body, laugh, smell, smile, humor, kindness, just at the thought of him, Here I was, right next door, so close I could just yell, and he’d hear me, yet I was to chicken, and weak, to try and talk with him.
No, I was not weak. Soon, I told myself, I’m going to contact him soon,
Specifically, that day. Well, after I got a flippin’ bed of course.
As I was going into the bathroom, preparing to take a shower, I was scarcely aware of this thumping beat coming from somewhere near. It sounded like a car’s radio was on full blast, and was driving past your house, you know the feel. It was more like a…..vibration, I could feel it more than hear it. Curiously, I traveled down the stairs, and into the Living room. Nobody was in there, and the thumping was getting dimmer. Frowning, I tried to follow the way the beat was coming from. Once again, it led me upstairs. It got louder as I neared my bedroom, so I stepped in. I crept over to the window, not exactly knowing why I was creeping, and put my ear to it. The persistent thumping noise was coming from outside. So I opened the blinds, and shifted the window open.
As you know, me and Brody were neighbors before I left. And our windows faced each other. So that’s why, when I opened my window, as the thumping increased, I saw Brody, his blinds open, 100 percent naked, towel drying his hair. Now, if it was anybody other than him, I might have turned away. But, come on, who could look away from the body of a god. And the face. And hair. Just, how could u look away from a god?? A naked one at that. Now, I want you to picture this clearly in your mind, Theres me, my eyes shock filled and bulging, my mind racing, staring at Brody. Now, theres Brody, unaware that I’m in the role of a peeping Tom, peeping on him specifically, now looking for clothes in his closet. Our houses, only being about 20 feet apart, allowed me a very close up view. Luck must be on my side today, I thought. Still, this was totally wrong, so I had made the choice of turning away. But, the thing is, Brody beat me to it. He turned and looked straight at me.
