Theadore's Man.....My Dream Man 22

Walking into the cool, coffee scented air of Coco Cambers was a refreshing break from the clustering fact that I was moving. Yet it made me realize I would no longer come here everyday on Saturdays with Brody anymore. My flops flapping with each step I took, I strolled confidently, well, looking that way, through the building. Not spying Brody anywhere, I checked my watch and took a seat at an empty booth. It was 11 45. I was early, but only by 15 minutes. Anxiousness was coming off of me in waves. Not in a positive way, Either.

I leaned against that back of the booth, dawdling my fingers, waiting for the dreaded moment I had to tell Brody I would no longer be his neighbor. How would he react? Would he be pleased? Would he be distressed? Or would he be infuriated???? Checking my cell phone again, I saw it was 10 after 12. He would not stand me up!! Would he? Gawd, I hoped not. Out of the blue, I remembered the day in the cafeteria when Brody had looked at me while I was talking to Garen. I remember they way his brown eyes were full of emotion. Love was the one feeling I remember most seeing in those eyes. But nope. Not for me Probably for Bev. Oh Well, what’s the use, I wouldn’t be here long. Just as I was about to leave the booth about ready to cry about being stood up when Brody strolled in. No, he didn’t just stroll in. He more like, floated in. I know it sounds weird, but it looked like he was an angel gliding across the floor. His blonde hair was spiked straight up, and looked incredibly soft. He was wearing casual jeans, and a plain white tank under a black button up t-shirt hanging wide open, revealing perfectly sculpted six-pack. Whoa!!!! Not only that, but I could see through the tank a little jut. He had his nipple pierced!! Not only that, but his lip!!! Oh, my , god!! His lip was pierced. I don’t see him for 4 days and he’s a frikkin stranger!!!

With an easygoing smile he slid into the booth, right across from me. My eyes still wide with shock, and trying to stutter at least a hi from my mouth, he laughed. I smiled and finally got some words out of my mouth.

“You look really different!”

“In a good way or bad??”

I could only stare at him in utter amazement! Of course in a good way!!! He was a major hottie before, but now he was a knock out, a sexy stud, with a little bad boy mixed in. I fell even deeper in love, if that was possible.

Blushing, I looked down at the newly cleaned table. “Of course in a good way.”

“You look the same…in a good way”

I looked up and I knew I had to tell him I was moving at that moment. “Brody, I’m moving. To California. For good.”

I thought I could actually feel the sudden change of the mood. Could actually feel the vibration of the earth moving under my feet. But one thing I knew happened was his Hershey kiss eyes suddenly turned into emotionless pits and filled with the salty water of his tears. Why exactly was he crying?? Relief? Sadness?? Which one??

He grabbed my hand and looked me straight in the eyes, like he was looking deep into my soul. My gaze never wavering from his, I stared right back. His eyes were like brick walls refusing to let anyone in. I knew mine were also.

Abruptly he let go of my hand and said.. ”when??”

“Tomorrow at 6” I replied, tearing up myself. This was harder than I thought.

“Wow” Was all he had to say.

No.. he didn’t have a .. “ I’m gonna miss you so much Kennedy.“

Or “Kennedy , I will miss you.”

Not even a “ Why?” Just “wow”

I knew my eyes were filling with despair and hurt at his not so caring response, so I looked at the floor, not wanting him to see.

“What did you want to tell me?” I gritted out of clenched teeth.

“Yea, uh, never mind, just that, what you caught me and Beverly doing, well, I didn’t want you to see that.”

“I didn’t want to see it.” I said.

“Well and I wanted to know why you cared so much? I mean, I know you’re my best friend and all, but why?”

Sighing, I lied and said “Brody, What would you have done if she had gotten pregnant?? Even if you did use protection, it could have happened. I was just…well, I guess protecting you. And plus, don’t you think it was to soon?”

He ran slender fingers through his soft looking hair. “Yea, I guess, don’t know what I was thinking. I was stressed and just got caught up in the moment.” He looked at me with regret.

“Well, I know you guys broke up, she came to my house yesterday, threatening to sue, but we worked things out, she’s pretty nice, somewhat.”

He gaped at me “She threatened to SUE you??!!!”

“Yea, here and her parents, but they didn’t.”

“What changed their mind??” He asked.

“If I told you, I have to kill you,” I replied with a grin. Of course I didn’t tell him, The only reason Bev didn’t was because she found out why I attacked her.

He smiled and then suddenly got serious. “I know that we haven’t been getting along, and its my fault, and I overreacted, but I’m just gonna miss you Kennedy, bad!”

My eyes filling with tears, I nodded, “I’m gonna miss you too, Brody Boy.” I used the name I had made up for him when we were about 10. Mine was Kandy Kenn.

“And everything we’ve been through together. I will NEVER forget you.” I said this as I started out of the booth.

“So this is good- bye.” He mumbled, tears once again threatening to spill over the side of his tanned cheek. “Can you call me when you get there?”

“No. It’ll be to hard, and you know it.” I kissed him on the cheek.

“Don’t forget me.” I whispered in his ear.

“Never will.” He whispered back, as a tear slid slowly down his skin.

I turned and walked away from the one I love, the one closest to me.

My soul mate.

 Forever.
