Chapter 2
France- may 8th 1830,
He measured their realation ship in a siries of firsts. That was the first time he saw her, in a lacy white dress covering every inch of her body, and a lacy white paracel covering her face.
“Good morning Madam Devlin,” he said shyly. How could he have known what she was. How was he to know that under paracel under her vail of Red aburn hair were her fangs.
“good morning Sir.” She said to the guard dressed in white who was among the many that guarded her fathers home. It was more like a cassel than a mannssion. He stood with his blond hair tied back, and his sword glinting in the sunlight. She walked into the house and the secponf she was in the dark mahogany halls her shield went down and her Sharp Green Yellow eyes relesed her narrow pupil.
He stood on the other side of the door amazed at the beauty of the women he had guarded for years even without seeing her face. She had some sence of beauty that hung in the air like a perfume. His frend, the guard next to him looked at him laughting. He frowned back, and thought more about the beautiful Rosette Jill Devlin, on the other side of the door she was thinking of him as well.
“Wake up sister, wake up sister… wake, wake, wake up sister!” I herd Girard jumping up and down above me, pounding on the chair yelliong at me. Angrily my mind foceused into consiousness.
“Yes… your awake.” He said, I rose my fist, and hurled it sending him crashing to the ground. I stretched and peeked at him.
“that wasn’t very nice,” he said lifting up slowly. Then he smiled and began jumping again.
“Sister, sister the phone is making a strange noise.” He said shoveing the cell phone we had into my face. On the screen was a mesege, in bold letters: GET OUT.
“Griard stay down, and stay quiet.” I wartned pulling on my coat, and clipping my hair up in a spiky fountain bun. Over that I shoved my hat on sloping down to protect my eyes. I walked to the door and shoved Girard behind me to hide him from sight. Quickly I pulled out a black unbrella, opening the door the sunlight flooded in straning my eyes until I covered my self with the shade of the umbrella. I herd Girard gasp behind me.
At least twenty men were there in suppression officer uniforms. They all had theier guns on my, the general was shouting, but seced when I stepped out, every thing became as still as night. I softened my face.
“Good morning every one, I trust an agology is in order for disrupting our sleep,” I said slyly. At that moment all their guns rained bullets, in a millisecond I was leaping twenty feet in the air, holding Girard trying as hard as I could to sheeld my selfe from the sun. I landed and ran as fast as my leggs would take me, with little effort.
I speeded for the city, maby that would hold them off for a while. I reached the sky scraapping buildings, hiding quickly in an ally, I herd sirins, and saw offificers running about searching for us. I shut the shield, and ste Girard down. We crouched down, then a ringing fermiluir voice sounded from the front of the ally way.
“maby I should have been the one to tell you to stay out of trobble.” I herd, Griard spun on his heal and smiled, his tinny fangs shinning.
“Lilliy!” he cried and ran over to hungt her as she made a hurry way down to us.
“we had a bit of rude awakining this morning,” I said looking smugg.
“Turst me I had nothing to do with it,” she said despret to have us beleve her. I knew she hadn’t yet I didn’t let her know that.
“yes well,” I said crossing my arms taking a moment to think thingd over. I smiled and coruched down to Girard.
“Listen Girard we need to run away from here,” I said.
“oh to find Solomon?” he said. My eyes became cold and I sneered my fangs.
“Exactly.” I growled.
“ I want to go with you.” Lilly Ana said.
“Why the sudden inmtrest in us Miss. Joliet?” I asked.
“I’m a peac maker, I have to try to do something.” She said.
“yes well it was nice to run onto you again but I must be going now,” I said, turnningto the street, still the street was flooding with officers.
“Pleas come with me and we can talk, these are back doors into shops restrants we can stay there until the heat dies down.” She said openiong a door among the many down thje ally. I looked skeptical, but Girard tugged at my coat.
“I think we should trusst her sister.” He said.
“Do you, I asked extending the words and smiling. I hardened and looked to Lilly Ana.
“then we will he happy to accept your kindness.” Oi said following her into the building.
We ended up in a small restrant, we got a table as icolated as we could, she ordered an ice tea and we al sat down.
“Rob would you like anything,” Lilly Ana asked. He looked to me.
“I don’t want to be rude,” he said.
“were ever would you get an idea like that?” she asked. “just tell me what you want.” She said smiling.
“Ive cream…” he said with all the child like wounder in the world.
“Ice cream it is then,” she smiled, and the waiter came back.
“caould we have and ice cream Sunday pleas.” She asked the woman in apren. She nodded and said she would be back.
“so Lilly… why were you in the ally way?” girard asked.
“I was out on duty when I herd the sirens then I saw you go into the ally, I thought it was my mind playing tricks on me,” she said scraching her head in imbaresment.
“And you didn’t turn us in?” I asked. Rmoving my hat and placeing it on the table.
“Wouldn’t be much of a Peac maker if I had,” she said smoothly. I nodded. The waiteress came back, with a blow plied with different ice ice creams and toppings. Girards mouthe widened in exitment.
“That’s all for me.” He asked when the lady was gone after asking if that was all we needed. Lilly Ana handed him a spoon.
“Eat up rob.” She said.
“oh thank you so much Lilly.” He said and began to pile spoonfuls into his mouth. Smiling while eating he pushed the bowl twords me. I rose my hand and shook my head.
“would you like anything Rose?” she asked me.
“No thank you Miss. Joliet.” I said, she smiled a shie.
“pleas call me Lilly Ana.” She said. We were silent for a moment while girard ate.
“ So Lilly, whats your favoret food?” Girard asked then lifted his spoon again.
“well I like pasta.” She said curiously.
“whats your favoret color?” he asked. She laaughted a slight bit at how random he was.
“yellow deffonently.” She said, he opened his mouth again, but I stopped him.
“Girard you now it’s rude to aske so many questions.” I said sternmly.
“ oh no I don’t mind really,” she said. I shrugged. After a moment. We herd a loud drop, as Girard fell down laying on the rounding bench.
“oh my… ios he alright.” She asked urgently. I shied and spoke smiling.
“this aleays happens when he eats to fast.” I looked at her stunned face.
“now, Miss. Joliet, I want to ask you. Why did you think I was blaming you for the officers showing up thid morning?” I asked strongly but cuoriously.
“well last night, you didn’t seen to trust me much, and well I thought you might suspect me.” She explaned.
“rest aasuered, thought I may with hold some information, I have no reason to suspect you of any wrong doings twords my companion and I.’ I explaned, that seemed to take a lift off her. She smiled.
“well that’s good to hear.’ She said.
“so tell me, why have the two of you come from the vampire zone?” she asked.
“so you know about that.” I said.
“of corse I said I am a peace maker, I try to learn as much as I can about the vampires.” She said. “why last night di you destroy the docks if you ment no thret to us?” she asked. I thought it fare to trell her that much.
“I ment you all no harm, thought the suppretion officers are descriminetive gastly beasts I ment them no harm. my brother and I were indeed stowaways yet he went to wander around the ship, he was discovered and in harms way, out of instincs I attaked more or rather protected him.” I said.
“I see, in that case as a represtntitive I am very sorry.” She said.
“well I accept you apolegy but you were not the caus, and if any one else tried to pass of an apology it would be more than a load of crap.” I said sharply.
“What do you mean discriminative?” she asked.
“well you know about the battle that was fought fifteen years ago. Between vampires and the Red fangs.” I asked. She looked puzzled.
“are you talking about the battle were the mysterious swords man killed over one million vampires.” She asked.
“long ago, humans and vampires decided together the it would be better if humans did not know about vampires. They created the vampire zone, run by the Order of Corps Company. And the human world With the Unity Corperation. The vamper Zone has one rule, Obay the laws of the Order of the Corps Company, there are some who left and in the human world became addicted you might say to blood, now they are the reason that the Suppression officers were created. That was what the battle was fought between. Vampiers and red fangs the humans assisted, but in that battle the red fangs grew beyond control, now vampires live in the Vampier Zone, but now it is more like an exile for us. The red fangs run rampunt secaretly that’s were your human legends of vampires come from. And why your suppression officers never care to see the destinction between Vampers, they are now hatefull twords any vampire exept the very few that are in the Unity company.” I explaned. Her face was stunned.
“you lost me, whats a red fang? What do you mean addictedto blood?” she asked.
“oh I suppose you superiors with hold the fact that vampiersw don’t need to drink blood. A silly human superstion. Still blood dose make us stronger, at our strongest. Still once you drink blood you become a complealy different creature almost. You beciome a blod thirsty monster. There are few who can sustain them selfes.” I said. She looked as if she had been hit with a ton of bricks.
“I cant beleve I didn’t know this. Dose Rob know?” she asked.
“most of it he dose.” I said.
“how can he not hate all humans he s so trusting and knid.” She said in awe. I smiled at his snoring face.
“he has had a long time to learn the ways of the world. We may not look it but hes about 28 years old, I myself am at least 90, maby 100 or so, ive honestly lost count.” I said watching her in amazment face. She couldn’t say anything.
“Maby I could make it up to you, I could gide you around the city, give you a tore, be a gide and show you the city.” She said.
“you owe nothing to us, but I think Girard would like that.” I said looking at him. His nose wirnkled and he lifted up, he yawned and his fangs stretched out of his mouth.
“oh.. hi Lilly! I fell asleep,” he said closeing his eyes and smiling looking imbressed. “oopps,” he laughted.
“Girard Lilly Ana is going to show us around the city, give us a tore.” I said watching his face glow in exitment.
“alright!” he cheered. Leaping out of the bench, Lilly put her money on the table and walked with us out of the restrant. Irt had been an houer or so and everything was calm and still again.
Out side Girard’s blond hair shone in the sun. him and Lilly walked as he pointed out things that exited him and others that amazed him. I looked fed up under my black umbrella, the sun was off of me but if I moved my shield I would burn to a crisp. My ornge glases were keeping the rays of the sun out of my eyes, an ornge tint fell over everything. Lilly Ana looked back at me curiosly sympathetic.
“you have a queston?” I asked.
“well I was just woundering if the two of you are siblings than how come…” I cut her off.
“true we are siblings, but my sister was sparred the weaknesses I bare. Such as the sun and most common metels. Only certen blood lines still have theses weaknesses, many othe the acent blood lines are long sence faded away. In fact only 6 othe these blood lines remane,” I said.
“what do you mean.” She asked. I looked a bit surprised then smug.
“You don’t know anything do you Miss. Joliet?” I said. “a blood line is the line of blood that vampires are created from dateing back to the beginning of our time. Only 6 remane many have thinned out threw every new vampire created and eventually was faded away.” I finished. Relising that several wemon from a shop on the sun lit out let were staring at is I spoke again.
“perhaps we should finich this convorsation son other time in a more privet loation.” I said. She looked around.
“perhaps.” She agreed.
“Lilly can we go there?” Giraard asked pointing to the harbor.
“sure Rob, no problum.” Lilly Ana said smiling as we made our way to the white gate under the white awning with green ivy growing up the poles. I lifted the black shade, looking out at the ships docked on the ople blue water. Girard’s smile and laughter had not stoped sence we left the restarant.
“Well I think this is as far as the city goes.” I said closing my eyes.
“Girard we need to beon our way soon.” I said. He got a dissipointed look.
“you mean we have to leave Lilly?” he asked.
“yes she has done what she said she would, it’s time for us to go, why don’t you go look at the ships one last time,” I said.
“ok…” he said winning. I turned to Lilly Ana’s face.
“well thank you, and I’m sorry,” I said graciously.
“what are you sorry for?” she asked her voice sincer but oviosly she was devastated that we had to go.
“you arnt the only one who can make snap decisions. I had quite an unfair dislikeing for you at first, for that I apologise. And thank you again Lilly Ana. It was a pleasure meeting you.” I smiled a small sweet smile. Then the resonance entered my voice again.
“this young lady has been very gracious to us, don’t you dare try to lay a hand on her or you and all your little pals will regret it.” I said strong and menacing, Girard came to my side again. Out of the bushes came three vampires. All lookin about 21, there was a womon in a pair of jeans and a black blazer jacket, her fangs were showing in her smile. She had black curls in a pony tail behind her hanging to her waist. Her eyes were black behind clear sun glases. She spoke first.
“trust me we have no qural with the girl, its you we have been searching for sence last night. I quickly under stood what they were talking about. I closed my eyes and looked cold.
“hear me well, what I did lasst night was not ment to benefet you in any way, only my selfe and my brother.” I said crossing my arms.
“be that as it may I would like to offer you a partener ship with us.” She said. Motinaning to the two men behind her, one was tall and strong looking as was the other , both about 20 to 22. The one on the left had bleach blond hair and small green eyes, the other had black hair and black eyes same as the women.
“to offer a partnership one must first know the other,” I said.
“forgive us, I’m Shara Lee. This is Jacob, and Mike.” She said. The blond,Mike nodded, as did Jacob.
“well I thank you for you offer but we are just fine by our selves.” I said.
“we are a small group of refugees who are just seeking a better life, we could use someone like you, we saw what you did to the dock last night and I’m quite impressed with your strength.” She said.
“like I said, thank you for your offor but I have no intention of partnering with any one right now.” I said again. She turned her attantion to Lilly Ana, who was quietly listening.
“well, so who is this,” Sara asked.
“I’m Lilly Ana Joliet, I’m a peace maker for the Unity Corperation.” She said, the three of them began to snicker under their breath.
“oh is that so?” Sara asked.
“Yes and she is very good at her job so…” I stopped dead, the fore of us vampires stiffened up.
“what? What is it?” Lilly Ana asked.
“Look out!” I called grabbing Lilly Ana around the waist and pulling her away, I leapt into the air holding he and Girard, a seering pain sting my body.
“AAHH!” I cried as I lowered to the earth quickly. We landed on a bridge by the harbor, I lay against the wall as my skin began to relese smoke. Girard pushed my ubrella into my hand.
“Are you ok?” Lilly Ana asked. I didn’t answer and we were soon in the presence of the three vampires we had just met.
“Damn… I didn’t think they would attack us here now,” I cursed.
“I swere I had nothing to do with it.” Lilly Ana said franticly.
“I know, I beleve you.” I said.
“come with us, we know a place were we will all be safe.” Mike said. We herd Officers stomping around the grounds of the harbor. There was no way to get out with out being spotted.
“Girard you need to get away from here. Run as far s you can,” I said.
“pleas just Listen to us, we can get you to a safe place.” Jacob said. I looked at their faces, then at Lilly Ana. I shied, knowing they would find us any minute.
“Very well. I’m going to divert them away from you, take my brother and keep him out of harms way.” I said.
“I want to go to!” Lilly Ana said. Girard smiled at the thought.
“Lilly Ana its to dangourous, if anything happened to you I couldn’t forgive my self.” I said.
“I’ll be fine, trust me,” she said. I shied.
“fine take them both but mark my words if anything happens to eather of them I will kill, you,” I said and I could tell then knew I ment it.
“Girard be careful.” I said. He wrapped his arms around me.
“ok sister.” Then his face lit up, “I’ll see you when you get back,” he said waveing at me as I smiled and began to run, She called after me.
“be carefull Rose.” She said worried. I turned.
“I’ll be fine, trust me,” I said then took off running again. I reached the top of the wal.
“there she is,” I herd them scream and befor I knew it I was leaping thre the air doging bullets. I smiled at how pathetic they were. Knowing that Girard was safe I was abule to be confedent. I landed in the park not far from the harbor, thinking I was safe. Then something shocked threw my sences, I herd them coming.
Damn, they even spred out this far, I thought as I had to leap once again. Then a paircing pain shot threw mt shoulder, I want shot, but there was a whole in my sun shield. I began to fall a bit, then more holes shot threw. I had fallen now, I hurled to the ground. I was on a thick brick path in the dead of the sun, it was burning threw my body, I saw the smock riseing, slowly I tried to look threw my glases but they were gone, I could bairly see as I tried to run to a shady place at least, but as I prepared to jump a similar pain exploded in my leg, a shot, the led bullet was stuck in my leg. Ordanerily I could with stand the small amount of metle, yet weakened my the sun I was poewer less, surrounded and smocking I began to slowly lose consiousness. I slipped away, glad the pain had stopped.
