Esme woke up, blinking at the sunlight. There was something strange going on, she could feel it. Listening, she heard her twin sister waking up in the room next door. Anistazia was singing, like she always did in the mornings. "If you don't start out a day with a song, how can you get through the rest of it?" Anistazia loved singing. Esme didn't know how she would get along without it. There was a noise at her window, a small thump as something hit into the glass. Walking over cautiously, Esme could see the jet black hair of her friend Zach. He never threw mud at her window unless there was a problem. Climbing down the giant tree outside the house, Esme wondered what was up. "Hey. Something wrong? Where's Mykal?"

"Yeah, we have a problem. I woke up first and went into his room to get him out of bed, but he was blacked out with blood all over the place. My parents are in New York and I don't know what to do. He's still out cold, man. Help me."

"Holy crap! Should I get Ani? No, let's just go. C'mon."

Back at Zach's place, Mykal was nowhere to be found. His room was torn apart, like something had a fit, and dried blood was all over his sheets and pillow. "Where the fudge is he?!"
