Pretending Not to Care [8]
|
The phone in homeroom rang. "Hello, 213." his teacher answered it. "Yes, I'll send him right down. Is it because of..you know. Travis? Oh, alright. Bye. Blake? The office called for you, they need you to go down there right now. Okay?"
"Sure. Whatever." Blake sighed. At least they can't call dad. I don't live with him anymore. He got up and walked to the office. As he entered, he saw something that scared him more than he has ever been in his life, even with his dad. It wasn't Travis. It wasn't a bunch of dead bodies. Yet. Blake almost ran right out of the office. His dad was sitting at the desk. He looked up at Blake with a fury and hatred in his eyes Blake had never noticed before. It was really bad.
"Ah, Blake." said the principle, Mr. Shiffco. "So glad to see you. Your dad has just informed me that the two of you are moving out of state. So, let's get your papers transferred and then you can say goodbye to your friends. I must admit, this is quite unexpected."
"Uh..yeah. Dad? Where are we moving?"
"Pennsylvania. Don't ask questions."
"Hey, Mr. S, do you think I could see you in your office?" Blake knew that if he didn't say anything now, he would either move far away and get killed or just get killed. He didn't like the prospects either way. As he shuffled his feet in the direction of the door, his dad spoke up again.
"That's not necessary. Get in the car, Blake."
"Wait a minute. I need to see something first. Mr. S has something of mine that I need back." Mr. Schiffco looked at Blake and knew something was up. He quickly took Blake into his office.
"What is it? What's going on?"
