Pretending Not to Care [5]
|
It was dark out now. Very dark. Very late. If Blake got caught sneaking in, well..you can imagine. Just as he had thought, Blake's dad was passed out cold. Apparently he had gotten very drunk, because he was almost completely naked and gross. Blake gagged, but managed to keep everything down. He shivered as he picked up the wallet on the floor. Grabbing all the cash except a twenty, he snuck into his room. Blake hurredly grabbed his favorite shirts, pants, and boxers. Then he chose three posters to take with him as well. Stashing his CD collection in his backpack, he snuck out the window. He turned around once he was outside, planning to flip the house off, but his dad was standing right there.
"BOY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"
"GET AWAY FROM ME! I DON'T NEED THIS! I'M OUT OF HERE FOREVER!"
Before his dad could grab him (or worse), Blake sprinted off down the street. He knew his dad was no match for him in speed. Blake could've been a track star. He knew his dad might be following him from afar, so he did not go directly to Hayley's place. Instead, he turned down an alley and made for the beach. There was a washed out cave, exposed only at low tide that was perfect for hiding in. Panting and exhausted, Blake dropped to the sandy ground once he had made it in safely. He looked out at the moon. In about 15 minutes, the water would rise and cover his hideout.
He wasn't sure if it was safe or not. Holding tightly to his duffel bag, Blake sneaked one green eye around the edge to see if the coast was clear. "Literally," he thought to himself, "I'm on a friggin beach."
