The Darkest Night
|
"Kimberly, come get your breakfast while it's still hot!" My mom yelled up the stairs to me as usual. I was still in the bathroom putting make-up on and fixing my hair.
I looked in the mirror and framed my big brown eyes with my black eyeliner that I wore every day. "Hmm , I'm running out I better get some more." I thought as I put the lid on the quickly disappearing eyeliner. I quickly brushed through my brown hair and ran downstairs.
"Finially." my mom said jokingly. I looked at the pancakes my mom made and knew she was going to ask me something personal. Pancakes were my all time favorite breakfast food but my mom always made me waffles and when she made me pancakes it always meant she wanted something.
"Hey honey an I ask you something?" Just as I expected. "Yeah what is it?"
"Well, I know how you feel aqbout me dating other men but I've been lonely and I met this guy..." I cut her off by putting my hand up. I hated the thought of my mom dating other men. It had only been 2 years sine my dad died and it hurt me to know that my mom was already moving on.
"Mom, I can't believe you it's only been 2 years and you already want to start dating?!"
"I am not moving on! You know how much I loved your father! It's just been so long since I've had someone love me and I'm lonely!" My mom looked like she was about to cry and I felt bad for making her feel that way.
"I'm sorry mom. It's just that I miss dad so much and it feels like you've just forgotten about him." I could feel the water building up in my eyes. I missed my dad so much. I walked over to my mom and hugged her tight. She hugged me back and we both started crying.
"Mom, if you feel lnely I'll let you go out but just promise me you won't forget about dad."
"I promise. I won't. And thank you honey." She hugged me back hard and then I looked at my watch. "Oh I better get going or I'll miss the bus." I said letting go of my mom. "Before you go fix you make-up. Your eyeliner is running." My mom said with a little laugh. I laughed to and ran upstairs to finish getting ready. I looked in the mirror and chuckled. My mom was right I had black tears running all the way down my face.
I wiped my face and ran back downstairs. I'll see you later mom." I yelled over my shoulder as opened the door. I started walking down to the beach for a quick look before I started heading to school. As I got closer to the beach I heard the waves crashing against the shore. I kicked of my shoes and started running down the pathway that led to the beach. When I got to the end I gasped when I saw how beautiful it was.
The sun was shining brightly across the ocean making it gleam bright blue. There was a slight breeze so when the waves hit the jetty it made the mist rise up into the air and make a curtain of seawater. I inhaled the sweet smell of the ocean and started to head back to the road.
While on the path I saw passed this man. I couldn't help myself and I stared wide-eyed at him. He was the most beautiful person I'd ever seen. He had black hair that was cut in a shag and he had black eyes that pulled you in when you looked into them. I wasn't looking where I was going and I tripped of the short fence that seperated the path from the dunes. I fell over the fence and landed on my stomach in the sand. I felt a pain in my leg so I rolled over and looked at my shin. There were a couple scrapes from the top of the weatherd wood fence and some were bleeding. "Ow" I said outloud. I rmembered the gorgeous guy and hoped he hadn't seen me fall. I looked around and saw him standing a few feet away from me. His back was to me and his hands were in fists. He turned around slowly and looked at me with a furious fae and started walking tward me.
He looked like he was going to kill me and i tried to scoot away. He suddenly closed his eyes and stopped walking. He opened his eyes and started backing away with a pained face. He turned around suddenly and started running away. "What was that guys problem?" I thought to myself. then I got up and walked the rest of the path to the road glancing over my back every so often to make sure the crazy gorgeous man wasn't coming to kill me. I got to the road and slipped my shoes back on. I looked at my watch and figured I would be late if I walked. I walked back to my house and got my bike out of the garage and started riding my bike to school.
