Chapter 40
[[Some of you got it, some of you refused to think outside of the box. I didn’t say the person was going to reply back right? Ha, the dead may not dance but they certainly can listen. Answer: She’s going to Austin’s grave for the last time. Enjoy.]
Sophie walked over to the full box and packed in the remainder of her clothing. She sealed the box and sighed as she looked around her room for any more stray items. Her eyes wandered to a piece of paper by her window. With a curious look on her face, she walked over to the window and picked up the paper. She began reading it and stopped abruptly as old feelings washed over her body. It was Austin’s note. Folding the piece of paper, she looked out towards the moon which was full and bright. “I have to talk to him one more time,” She said muttering under her breath.
She grabbed her jacket and tip toed down the stairs quietly. Silently opening the door, she glanced over at her parents who were watching the television. She slipped out and closed the door behind her. Going over to their garage, she unchained her bike which she hadn’t ridden since a year, and hopped on. She started pedaling fast going in the same route that Logan had taken. Seeing the cemetery in sight, she pedaled faster yearning to be near him. She quietly got off her bike at the gates and chained it up. Pushing the gate door open she entered the sacred place. She looked around and took a deep breath as feelings of guilt, and sadness consumed her. She kept walking down the row of graves and at last she spotted his engraved name.
She fell on her knees and sobbed as her tears sank deep into the ground. Raising her tear filled eyes to read his grave, her heart broke at the thought of his decayed body. He shouldn’t be there; she thought as more tears streaked down her face, he should be here, alive. She cleared her throat and whispered, “Hi Austin.” Stopping, she took a minute to think of what to say as the silence enveloped her. “I’m sorry,” She choked out, “I killed you. It’s my fault. If I could turn back time, I would, I so fucking would.” As her sobs escaped into the air she said softly, “I didn’t know what I wanted before. I was a stupid girl that didn’t know what life actually was until I lost you. I regret it so much. Karma’s a bitch because it’s coming back to me. I’m losing Logan now. I’m moving. Far away.” She stopped and looked up wanting some kind of sign.
Seeing none, she cried out helplessly, “Are you there? I’d give anything to see your smile again.” She brought up her legs and hugged her knees to her chest. “I miss you Austin. So much. You had so much to live for. Why did you go? I would have still loved you,” She stared up at the pitch black sky as new tears formed, “It’s because of me you died. I fucking hate myself for that. You called me a star. That’s not true, you’re the star. Because you’ll always shine in my heart.” She stared down at what would have been his face, six feet down. “I’d give anything to hear a word. Even that you hate me. I’d give everything.”
Taking a deep breath, she continued on, “I probably won’t ever be back here. That’s why I want to tell you goodbye. It’s the least I could do.” She bit her lip as she closed her aqua eyes. “I love you Austin,” She said shakily, “I wish you didn’t go, but wishes with the dead don’t come true.” She leaned forward and pressed her lips against the cold stone. “I love you,” She said for the last time, as she got up slowly and trudged back over to the gate. Shutting it behind her, she once again got on her bike and pedaled home, as every moment she had spent in that town flashed through her mind, scene after scene.
[[Author’s Note: The next chapter is the ending of Accidental Love. Now before you start jumping for joy, I am making a sequel but it will still be under the title of ‘Accidental Love’. If you want Logan and Sophie’s ending to be this, tell me and I won’t keep you posted. If you want to read on and see where they end up, ask to be kept posted.]]
