Chapter 39 Sophie stormed out of the house leaving a stunned Logan behind her. Logan stood still, frozen, as the wind took the open door to its advantage and scattered papers all over the ground. He snapped out of his trance and knelt to retrieve the pieces of paper that had fluttered everywhere. After collecting all of them, he went towards the door to shut it, and saw Sophie running in the opposite direction of where her house was.
He frowned, hurriedly turned, and ran to the living room to get his jacket. He felt guilty about what he had said and was shocked that he had accused her of cheating on him without proof.
His heart started pounding louder and louder with each passing minute as he thought to himself,
What have I done? Sophie Sophie hastily brushed away her tears with the back of her hand as she felt her sneakers pounding soundlessly on the asphalt.
How could he say that? She thought broken heartedly, that I have another boyfriend?
She didn’t know where she was going, and honestly she didn’t care as long as it was away from her life. She felt her feet turn around the corner and she saw the park up ahead. She kept running, feeling the wind whip her cheeks turning them red and her lungs yearning to burst with every step.
She threw herself against the metal pole, which held the swings up and breathed heavily, her vision back into focus. She sat down on the swing and covered her face with her hands. She felt her body shake as she cried, and her lips were trembling. She gripped the sides of the swing and kicked off with her feet. She felt all her worries go away as she felt herself go back and come hurtling towards her as she came forward. Suddenly she felt her swing come to an abrupt halt. She turned around as Logan gently let her seat come back into the middle and he sat down in the swing next to her.
“I’m sorry,” He said softly, “I shouldn’t have said that.” Sophie stared down at the ground. “I said what I said to help you move on,” Sophie whispered as she looked up at him, “There is no one but you.” Logan’s head shot up as he searched Sophie’s eyes. All he found was hurt. “I’m really sorry,” Logan said, ashamed, “Forgive me if you can…” “It’s fine, don’t worry,” Sophie said, catatonically. Logan pulled her swing towards his and tilted her face up. “Sophie, please, try to understand, moving on is going to be hard for me, but I’m going to try okay?” Logan pleaded. Sophie nodded and sighed as she gave up her long fought battle. Logan leaned over and kissed her softly. Logan looked up at the sky which was a rosy red fading to black. “You should be getting home,” Logan said gently. Sophie stood up and interlocked her hand with Logan’s. Walking towards their street slowly as possible to spend the most time together, Logan looked at Sophie taking in her beauty.
As they saw the lights in her house turned on, Logan turned to Sophie and took a deep breath. “I know today hasn’t been how we expected it to be, but even though we fought I enjoyed every moment I had with you,” Logan said gently. Sophie sighed and looked into his green eyes, “I love you, Logan.” “I love you too, gorgeous,” Logan said with a sad smile as he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. Sophie wrapped her arms around him and breathed in his baby scent, the one scent she was going to miss so much. “What time are you guys leaving?” Logan asked. “At 8 in the morning. Seattle.”
“That’s so far…” Logan said miserably. “I know, but we’re going to keep calling each other right?” Sophie said, looking towards him hopefully. Logan forced a grin onto his face and said, “Definitely. I’ll meet you at 7:30 in front of your house, okay?” “Okay,” Sophie replied with a heavy heart. Logan leaned down and kissed her intensely. “I love you, always remember that.” “I love you too,” Sophie replied with a half-hearted smile before turning around and walking into her house.
Logan turned on his heel and breathed out. Fighting back tears, he jogged to his house and ran up to his room. Tomorrow’s going to be impossible to get through, he thought sullenly.
[[Sorry I haven’t posted in a long time. You could say I lost inspiration. Anyways, here’s a hint for the next chapter since I owe it to you guys:
Here’s a clue, there’s one more she needs to talk to, someone whose love was true.]]
