Chapter 38

                              Logan glanced over at Sophie who was slumped on the couch with a melancholy expression on her face. He sighed heavily and got up, dejected, to go turn off the movie which were still rolling the credits. As he pushed the disk back into its case, he looked back up at Sophie had averted her gaze to the floor. “Sophie, babe, come on don’t be like this,” Logan said softly. “Be like what?” She replied hostilely.

                              “Like this,” Logan said, frustrated that she was being so difficult. Sophie stood up suddenly, pulling on her hoodie as she said coldly, “I’ll keep being like this until you agree, and honestly I wish you would because I don’t want to end our last time together like THIS, as you say.”

                              Logan stared at her, amazed at her stubbornness. “Sophie, you can’t be serious,” He said, shocked. Sophie stopped zippering up her hoodie, and stared at him. “Serious about what?” She asked. “About me moving on. You know that’s going to be hard,” Logan said quietly. “I KNOW its going to be hard, Logan, I know it, but it’ll happen with time,” Sophie argued. “No, it won’t,” Logan retorted.

                              “Ughhh,” Sophie said with frustration evident in her voice. “You’ll see how easy it is when I leave,” Sophie said icily. “Some other girl way better than me will come by and steal your heart and you know what? That’s what you need. I’m not leaving with a dent in your heart, get that? You’re going to move on,” She said, her voice weakening with every word. Logan stared at her in shock once again.

                                    “Do you honestly think I’m going to get over losing the girl I love that quick? Losing my best friend, too?” Logan said, hurt, “Get real and snap to reality, Sophie, I’ve wanted you for so long and I’ve only got to spend so little time with you, I saw a future with you, know that?” Sophie stared down at the floor, shaking her head slowly in bitterness.

                                    “You know what I’m just going to leave,” Sophie said frostily. “Yeah that’s right, leave.” Logan snapped, “But I’m not moving on.” Sophie opened the door with force, getting ready to walk out.

                                    “Yeah and maybe the whole reason you want to move me on is because you want to get rid of me and move on. You probably already have another boyfriend.” Logan added without thinking. Sophie stopped in her tracks as hurt was registered on her face. She slowly turned around to look at Logan in disbelief. Logan felt devastated but didn’t show it, instead he made matters worse. “Yeah, I bet that was it, this whole time,” He scoffed. If that’s what it takes for him to move on, let him think it, she thought. Sophie laughed bitterly as her eyes welled up with tears, as she said softly, lying, “Yeah maybe that was it this whole time.”
