Accidental Love [Chapter 35]

Chapter 35
Sophie stared at her screen in disbelief and shock.
Logan: Why didn’t you tell me?
Sophie: I... I was going to. I found out the day before, and I was just thinking about how to break it to you.
Logan stared at the screen as guilt washed over him.
Logan: I’m sorry I didn’t give you time to explain, just when your mother told me, I was hurt you kept it from me.
Sophie: It’s okay.
Logan: No its not, I should’ve given you time.
Sophie: It’s okay though, anyone would have jumped to the same conclusion you did.
Logan: I guess. When are you moving?
Sophie: Don’t know… I haven’t asked. Soon though, they already bought the house.
Logan swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat before asking his next question.
Logan: Oh. What are we going to do… about us?
Sophie: I don’t know… make the most of it, I guess.
Sophie took a deep breath as she realized she was going to lose him, possibly forever.
Logan: Oh… there’s no way you can make them stay?
Sophie: No… my dad won’t have it, you know that.
Logan: Can we go somewhere? To the park? We need to talk.
Sophie looked at the screen miserably as she knew it wouldn’t be a pleasant conversation.
Sophie: Sure.
Logan: Okay, pick you up in 10 minutes.
Logan hesitated. Should I tell her that I love her? Deciding yes, he typed it in.
Logan: I love you, bye.
Sophie: I love you too, bye.
Sophie sighed and pushed away from her computer as she saw Logan sign off. A few seconds later she signed off as well. Throwing on an old pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie, she grabbed her hair brush and tied her hair up. She heard the gravel crunch outside through her open window and knew it was Logan. She went down the stairs slowly, looking for an excuse to delay. She passed by her mother who gave her a supportive smile. Sophie smiled back weakly.
She sucked in a huge breath and went out the door. She settled herself into his car, and stared ahead into the horizon. Logan noticed her hostility but didn’t utter a word. He just drove until he reached the nearest park which was empty since it was a chilly day.
As soon as the car came to an abrupt stop, Sophie opened the door and slammed it shut. Logan looked at her back which was against the car door and sighed. He pulled his keys out and got out as well, coming around to her side.
“You’re still mad at me?” He asked, softly. Sophie stared down at the ground and slowly raised her eyes to meet his. “No,” She said bitterly, “Just mad that everything seems to come in between us.” Logan breathed out a sigh of relief and brought her closer into a hug. Sophie wrapped her arms around him. “Guess we’re just not meant to be.” Sophie breathed out, her eyes watering. “No, don’t say that, we’ll find a way to make this work.” Logan said, though his own words were lying to him; he knew this wouldn’t work. “I’m not going to make you wait, possibly years for me Logan; you just have to move on.” Sophie argued. Her breathing became heavy as tears blinded her vision and streaked her cheeks. She bit her lip and tried to get control of herself.
Logan wiped away any stray tears and kissed her fully on her lips. “It’s going to be okay, you’ll find another guy who loves you as much as I do, and one day we’ll meet again,” Logan whispered. Sophie shook her head miserably and said softly, “It’s not going to be the same, and you know it.” “We’ll make it the same again,” Logan tried again, as he cupped his hands around her oval shaped face. Sophie closed her eyes and leaned against him, trying to imagine things the same in the future. Somehow the image just wouldn’t come to her.
She nodded tiredly, giving up and leaned into him. She was so sick of crying, so sick of her heart hurting; she just couldn’t take it anymore. Logan kept his arms around her and whispered, “I’ll take you home.” Sophie nodded and found her voice, “I’ll ask when we’re moving and message you tonight; stay online.” Logan sighed and nodded. Sophie looked down at her sneakers to avoid his eyes. Logan tilted her head up and placed his forehead against hers, looking down into her saddened eyes. “Listen to me carefully, Sophie,” Logan whispered, “Nothing is ever going to change what we have, okay? Nothing.” Sophie nodded as more tears fell on her cheeks silently. Logan used his thumbs to wipe away anymore traces of tears and opened the door of the car for her. As soon as she was settled he made his way around to the driver’s seat and started the car. Driving home, he kept one hand on the steering wheel and one hand entwined with Sophie’s. He pulled up close to her house and drew her in for a long kiss. “It’s going to be fine,” Logan whispered as he gently squeezed her hand to offer reassurance. He brought her hand up to his lips and placed a soft kiss on her fingers. Sophie managed one nod before she got out of the car and started walking towards her door. Logan sighed and looked out towards the sky wondering what kind of evil would take almost everything away from her. He shook his head and kept driving for two minutes. He parked his car and trudged his way up to his room where he immediately signed on again and waited for Sophie’s message.
