Accidental Love [Chapter 33]

Chapter 33
Sophie’s eyes filled with tears that were on the verge of falling.
How could he have known? She thought.
Sophie froze when she knew who told him. Her mother.
She quickly blinked back her tears as anger possessed her body.
She stomped down her stairs making her fury known to all. She went into her kitchen with fists at her sides.
“Mom!” She said quietly, trying to contain any profanity.
“Yes, dear?” Her mother asked. She looked oblivious to having done anything.
“Why. Did. You. Tell. Logan?” Sophie asked, seething.
Sophie’s mother opened her mouth and quickly closed it. “Well, he had a right to know didn’t he?”
“I know he had a right to know! I was going to break it to him gently before you decided to solve my problems for me,” Sophie yelled, forgetting to keep her cool. She felt a wave of guilt rush over her as she remembered she was never planning to tell him. She ignored it and focused on her anger.
Sophie’s mother looked down at her apron. There was an awkward silence.
“Look,” Sophie said coolly, “Stay out of my business. Don’t try to do anything because you and Dad seem to screw everything up. Don’t help me at all because it always backfires. These are MY problems, let me deal with them. It’s bad enough you are making me move, and now I probably won’t even get to be friends with the one person that matters to me the most.”
Sophie turned on her heel, and walked back up to her room slamming the door shut. She collapsed on her bed as she realized what she had just said. She looked horrified that she had said that to her own mother. She instantly began to feel guilty because never had she been this angry with her mother.
I shouldn’t have said that, Sophie thought gloomily. She bit her lip as she gathered enough courage to go apologize.
She opened her bedroom door again, and softly walked down the steps. She heard sobs coming from the kitchen. She walked towards it and saw her mother at the table with her head in her hands.
“Mom?” Sophie said softly as tears of her own began to cascade. Her mother hastily brushed her tears away as she looked up with red rimmed eyes.
“Yes?” She asked her voice breaking.
“I’m so sorry,” Sophie cried as she rushed to her mother’s side and hugged her.
“Shh...” Sophie’s mother said soothingly, “It’s okay,”
“I didn’t mean it, I swear. I just don’t know what I’m going to do. I mean, first Austin and now Logan? I’m losing everything,”
“I know, sweetheart,” Her mother told her gently, “I tried to convince your father from not moving you but he doesn’t want you to deal with this place anymore.”
Sophie’s sobs soon turned into hiccups. Her mother wiped away any leftover tears from her porcelain face.
“It was wrong of me to tell Logan, you’re right, you should’ve broken the news to him,” Her mother said truthfully, “I’ll stop invading your privacy. I just… just thought it’d be too much for you to tell him,”
Sophie sighed as her hiccups stopped. “I know Mom; you were only trying to help.”
There lay a peaceful silence between them before Sophie broke in.
“Mom… what do I do about Logan?”
Her mother thought while she idly stroked Sophie’s hair in a soothing pattern. “I suggest you give him time and let the fact sink in. He’ll probably just yell at you if you go to him now with apologies.”
She glanced at the necklace which still was clenched in Sophie’s hand. “The boy really loves you, he’ll understand as time progresses.”
Sophie nodded as she agreed with her mother for the first time.
