Accidental Love [Chapter 20]

Chapter 20
Sophie stared at him. His words kept echoing in her mind. “I’M IN FUCKING LOVE WITH YOU, SOPHIE; I’M MADLY, DESPERATELY, HOPELESSLY IN FUCKING LOVE WITH YOU.”
A silence lay between them; the only sound was the rain hitting the cars.
A bit breathless, Logan said weakly, “I know you don’t feel the same about me Sophie. This is why I wanted to keep this from you. I don’t want to cause you any more pain than I have. I just got you back, and I’m going to fucking lose you again. I’m sorr—’’
Sophie cut off his words by taking two big steps and firmly kissed him. She cupped her wet hands around his face drawing him closer. Logan wrapped his arms around her waist and continued kissing her gently but forcefully. The taste of rain fell on their lips.
They parted but Sophie kept her face lingering right in front of Logan’s, her lips trembling. She looked down at her feet, in shock of what she had just done. Logan caressed her face and breathed out, “I’m sorry…”
Sophie looked up at him with tears in his eyes and moaned, “What have I done? I can’t do this to Austin. It’ll shatter him.”
Logan tried to comfort her. “Sophie, what has been done, is done, no use dwelling on it.”
That only seemed to make things worse. “Logan, no, you don’t understand, I told him I wouldn’t break up with him.”
“What am I going to do?” She muttered to herself, as she began pacing back and forth, her hands running through her hair.
Logan pulled her gently towards him.
“I can’t tell him. No, I should, it’s not right. I don’t want to hurt him,” She said talking out loud, barely noticing how close to Logan she was.
Logan tilted her chin up and placed a finger over her lips. She looked up in his eyes, with remorse.
“I need to know one thing,” Logan whispered, “Do you love me?”
Sophie swallowed.
“Yes. I do. I always have.”
Logan shut his eyes as a sigh of relief escaped his mouth.
“Good,” He said with a tiny smile, “Everything will be alright,”
He hugged her, whispering soothingly into her ear,
“It’ll be okay.”
Yet, he didn’t know how “okay” things were going to be.
Austin
Austin turned the corner on 45th ST, to go over to Sophie’s house, when he froze. He spotted Logan and Sophie in a heated argument. He could hear their voices.
Then he saw it. Their lips met.
Time stayed still, hell seemed to have frozen over, and his heart felt really broken.
I looked at the sight in horror, as shock and betrayal flooding into his face. He paled.
How could she? He turned around and broke into a run.
I loved her. I lost her. Tears raced down his cheeks.
Soon reaching 47th street, two blocks ahead, he sat down on the curb and wiped the water and tears from his face but more seemed to come down.
He bit his lip to keep from breaking down completely. He stood up and walked shakily.
He swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat.
He tried to search for words but there were none.
I can’t believe she did this to me.
