Accidental Love [Chapter 19]

Chapter 19
“She called me a whore, a bitch, and so much more,” Sophie said angrily, “How can I not get mad?” She left out the jealousy part.
Logan sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. He groaned and then said,
“You guys fought because of something stupid like name-calling? Now, she’s probably mad at ME because I’m not in there with her.”
“Oh yeah?” Sophie challenged him, crossing her arms, “And I suppose whatever you and Austin were fighting over the other day at gym wasn’t for anything stupid either, right?”
Her eyes glowed red. Logan stared at her and muttered, “That idiot must’ve twisted the whole story around.”
Logan said louder, “He told you about our little physical encounter? What a little bitch, it was between US but noooo; he had to go telling you about it.”
Sophie frowned. “Physical encounter? What physical encounter? All he mentioned was a confrontation, so I thought an argument.”
Logan stared at her in disbelief. She said demanded, “What fight, Logan?”
“Nothing,” He said slowly, “Forget it, if he didn’t tell you, you don’t need to know.”
“Yes, I fucking do, do not play with me right now, Logan. I am not in the mood.” She said through clenched teeth.
The after school session bell rang, signaling the end of all activities. Logan stared at her desperately before giving in.
“You want to continue this outside, please? I’ll meet you on 45th since she goes the other way. Bye.” Logan said hastily.
Logan hurried off and wrapped an arm around Stacie who was still fuming. Sophie and Stacie met eyes. Stacie was about to go towards Sophie again, but Logan held her back.
As soon as Stacie began stomping towards the exit, Logan shot Sophie a look that told her to play it cool.
“Yeah, play it cool, my ass.” She muttered as she hoisted her book bag up on her shoulder.
She began heading towards the exit as she thought,
Today, I’m getting some answers. One way or another.
Logan and Stacie
“Stacie, wait!” Logan yelled after her as he ran through the school doors. He drew back in shock as rain drops pelted his face. He squinted his eyes and saw Stacie shivering and walking alone. He ran the rest of the way there and easily matched her pace.
“What the hell were you doing with her, when you were supposed to be with ME?” Stacie asked furiously.
Logan thought quickly. “Stacie… she was out of control. You can handle it so much better than she can. Plus SHE was on top of YOU so she could’ve hurt you even more. You should thank me.”
Stacie’s face softened as she said, “Whatever. I don’t like her at all, her… her way of treating people just pisses me off.”
Logan stayed quiet as rain drops fell from his wet hair. “Okay… this is where I leave,” She joked uneasily, bruises evident on her face, “I love you.”
Logan hesitated and decided not to say anything. Hurt flashed on Stacie’s face but it was replaced with a smile which looked fake. “Bye.” She said, walking quickly up the block.
Logan said softly, “Bye.” He stared in the opposite direction, where his and Sophie’s house was located. He walked slowly only to discover, when he turned on 45th street, that Sophie hadn’t gone inside of the house but was in fact waiting for him right on the corner of the block.
“Hi,” He said glumly.
“Hi,” She replied hostilely, “I want answers right now.”
“Sophie, it’s raining, you’re going to get sick,” Logan protested but Sophie cut him off and said, glaring at him, “NOW.”
He sighed. “Fine, what do you want to know?”
“Why you guys fought, the truth as to why you don’t like him, and why you’ve hidden this from me. I thought we were friends, and last time I checked, we didn’t keep secrets from each other.”
Logan grew angry, “Yeah, and last time I checked, we were in a fight so how could I possibly tell you?”
She held her tone and replied; “Now you can tell me. Please, cut the bullshit.”
“Fine,” He said through clenched teeth, getting annoyed, “We fought because I don’t trust him at all. He told me I didn’t know how to treat girls, and HE’S fucking talking. He HAS no room to talk, what the fuck; he’s treating you as if you’re his property or something,”
“You don’t see me complaining do you?” Sophie said evenly. Logan looked hurt and added defensively, “Technically, we didn’t even fight, and I just grabbed him by his shirt and shoved him up against a locker.”
“You put your hands on him, and that’s bad enough,” Sophie said, upset. Logan looked frustrated as he glanced down at his blurry reflection in the puddle.
He continued and said, “So I just told you why I don’t like him and why we fought.”
Logan swallowed, now for the big question. How was he going to avoid this one?
“I kept this from you because… because…” His voice faltered. Rain drops streamed down his cheeks.
Sophie stared at him. “Because…?” She pressed. Her hair glistened with crystals.
“Because… we weren’t speaking.” He said stupidly.
Sophie’s eyes turned cold and sad,
“You’re such a fucking bitch, Logan; don’t you think I deserve the truth?” Tears welled up in her eyes mixing with the rain,
“You don’t know how hard it is for me. To be fought for, between my best friend and my boyfriend. It hurts so bad knowing you guys are fighting over me. I don’t want either of you to get hurt, but ha, it seems like I’m the one getting hurt instead.”
Logan got mad. “YOU DON’T THINK ITS FUCKING HARD FOR ME TOO? TO HAVE MY BEST FRIEND STOLEN AWAY?”
Sophie stared at him in disbelief and yelled, “STOLEN AWAY? YOU REFER TO ME AS PROPERTY TOO! AND YOU CALLED ME A HYPOCRITE BEFORE.”
“THIS IS DIFFERENT.”
“SURE IT IS.”
“YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY I KEPT THIS FROM YOU? THE TRUTH?” Logan screamed.
“YES, GOD DAMN IT, YES, I WANT THE FUCKING TRUTH. I’M SICK OF BEING LEFT IN THE DARK.” Sophie screamed back, tears falling quickly now.
“I KEPT THIS FROM YOU BECAUSE I JUST WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY, YOU’RE MUCH HAPPIER WITH AUSTIN. I’D DO ANYTHING FOR YOU, EVEN SACRIFICE MY OWN HAPPINESS.”
“I’M IN FUCKING LOVE WITH YOU, SOPHIE; I’M MADLY, DESPERATELY, HOPELESSLY IN FUCKING LOVE WITH YOU.”
